Spoke about alleged improprieties regarding his handling of tickets...drinking too much at social functions....bad jokes....his relationships with government etc, and a new one on me, an unpaid bill at Patrick Guibaulds restaurant...very candid and came across as being up front about all of these matters.
Think he'll defo be given the push though at this meeting tomorrow... :(

he's doing well alright. Giving the impression that he definitely deserves a chance to fulfill a tenure of decent length to see through at least some of the items on his wishlist

I asked for that!
Optimistic prediction ... Athlone Town will be in the top 2 at the end of next
season. Manager signed up for another season and abut 6 new signings on
the way in to the club.

Who are we releasing?

Who are we releasing?
a murphy ;)
I thought we had already signed Adrian Murphy.
We currently have Paddy Mul and Gary Murphy
on loan from ye. both would be decent signings
for us from what I've seen of them so far.

Looks like its irreconcilable between himself and others in the FAI, sounded a bit staged "Paul McGrath/Mr. Malone" sounded like a plea for his job. Never answered the question about whether he needed the money. IMO if I had that much money, I wouldn't have left restaurant bill unpaid like that nor would I be appealing to the "grassroots" for my job, nor would I be wasting my time with a bunch of wnkers in the FAI. He should have told them to get stuffed with some dignity.

I think the FAI are trawling for stuff to say against him, TBH. The "case" against Rooney is, IMO, and to use American parlance, a crock. I suspect the real issue is that Rooney has the balls to challenge some sacred cows in the Association. And that simply won't do! The cosy boys club has survived close scrutiny in the past. The worst thing Rooney can do for the FAI is to go quietly. We need to know what is happening behind closed doors. Why, for example, is there ANY reluctance to have an open competition for the positions which are funded, AFAIK, from the public purse? If there is a little smell about Rooney, the FAI are in no position to be haughty because the association stinks.

I would have to agree, i'm sure the FAI are trawling for stuff. The point is a lot of people are either for rooney and against fai or against rooney and for the fai. I'm saying that even though I deplore corcoran and delaney, rooney well may have a serious case to answer, he may be worse than the existing clowns in the circus.
It may well be the case that he has bawls- After all he went on Primetime but didn't answer the questions that he the CEO, being paid c.€250K p.a should have been able to answer! On liveline he said he had questions he'd like to ask, but when given the opportunity didn't. Worringly he it seemed like he was pleading for his job.
Forgetting about the W$Łkers in the FAI, this is unacceptable. Our money, taxpayers money (as well as our own money) goes into the FAI and hundreds of millions are earmarked for the stadium, yet this guy can't provide answers to questions concerning the relatively lesser amount of money they have received from the Sports Council- what's goin on? He's the CEO, he has to be responsible. After 18 months in charge, he says has a 'feel' that others are putting obstacles in his way of implementing Genesis, but when asked to provide detail, he can't.
He has also been slagged in the media and tagged "2-day Fran", yet he keeps chanting the line that he wants to implement Genesis, how can he if he's not there - again what's goin on? Any other business and he'd be out on his backside!
