Saw the programme for next year and there was a two page spread about a four team tournament to be run by Cork City involving City and clubs from previous and future Cities of Culture.

Don't know which cities have been Cities of Culture before but I do know that Liverpool is in 2008.

Possibly Liverpool or Everton at the Cross (or maybe Tranmere)?

1990: Glasgow
1991: Dublin
1992: Madrid
1993: Antwerp
1994: Lisbon
1995: Luxembourg
1996: Copenhagen
1997: Thessaloniki

It could be either a very good tournament with some class teams or they could pick teams from Dublin, Sibiu and Santiago de Compostela ;)

That gives us a pretty big list of clubs to choose from.

So we could have
v Dublin City (Dublin 1991)
v FC Union Berlin (Berlin 1988)
v Knattspyrnufelag Reykjavikur, Iceland (Reykjavik 2000)

Nice little line up there!...:D

We'd have a good chance of winning that tournament anyway!

Seems to be letting things very late.

Seems to be letting things very late.

Course it is not going to happen. It was just more of the bull**** surrounding the non event that is the capital of culture.

There was talk of Liverpool and Ajax coming to the Cross for that particular competition but I cant see it myself.

How do all the teams from 2000 sound to you?! Everyone's a winner!! :D

nah the teams will definately be:

Porto,
Ajax, and
Sparta Prague
:D

realistically though, it wouldn't be too hard to get other clubs to sign up for a competition in their pre-season (August). The impact on City's fixtures may be more problematic.

This was just a fantasy from the start IMO.
