Darragh is on the bench for Blackburn today.

His compatriots John O'Sullivan, Anthony O'Connor, Alan Judge and Leon Best are all out on loan at other clubs atm.

Following the trend of Blackburn Rovers Irish players going out on loan, he's signed for Burton Albion on loan for a month: http://www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/article/20141021-lenihan-2029820.aspx

A first league goal, I believe, to draw level with Portsmouth. He's been an ever-present as Burton maintain their promotion form.

Stand-in captain Matt Kilgallon limped off after 37 minutes, leading to a debut for youngster Darragh Lenihan who was impressive alongside Tommy Spurr.

He's normally a defensive midfielder too, isn't he?

Aiden O'Brien, Alan Dunne and David Forde played the full whack for Millwall.

"About a year ago we started playing Darragh at centre-half in the U21s just to see if that could be his position and thank God we did as it certainly helped us on Tuesday," said Bowyer.

"I thought he did terrifically well up against Ricardo Fuller, who has been there, seen it and done it.

"It was a hell of a test for him and he stood up it and grew in confidence. He backs his ability and rightly so and we're delighted he helped us keep a clean sheet."

Lambert had some positive comments about Lenihan's performance after coming on as a sub the other night.

Darragh is only a young kid but he’s certainly knocking on the door for a start, that’s for sure. I thought Darragh was excellent when he came on in midfield and excellent when he went to centre-half. I think he's got a decent chance of being a really good footballer.

Some comments from Lenihan himself last week here- (http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/14190278.Darragh_Lenihan_hoping_to_impress_new_Bla ckburn_Rovers_boss_after_frustrating_season/?ref=rss)

It seems he's some man to hoof an accurate pass!

Looks a good reader and tackler from that, granted, highlight reel. Remember seeing him midfield once and thought he didn't get his head up enough when on the ball. With a bit of space, he can clearly pass it.

His former Blackburn reserve teammate, Anthony O'Connor, started for Burton Albion. Damien McCrory has been a regular starter there this season.

First start for the Blackburn senior squad since his return from injury as they beat Bury 2-0 to climb to the top of League One: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43027552
Looking more like he and Derrick Williams will be returning to The Championship next season so I hope MONKEANO are keeping an eye on their progress. Quick question: if Blackburn do indeed secure promotion, should Lenihan and/or Williams be given a shot in the June friendlies? After all, they both are capable of playing at Championship level at least, and would be doing so next year.

Lenihan finished an injury-hit season on a high with the opening goal for Blackburn yesterday: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43931508. Will be interesting to see if he can impress in upcoming friendlies - Liam Kelly's hesitancy to commit does leave an opening for a young midfielder to take advantage of

Sidenote - Based on the friendly against Turkey MON seems to be interested in looking at 3-5-2 as a formation option again, in spite of the debacle against Mexico when Richard Keogh got run ragged by the Mexican left-winger and Cyrus Christie was too far up the pitch to help - the emergence of Rice and Long as EPL regulars should help with that, though. If so, Derrick Williams could provide a good option on the left side of the defensive trio as he has played there regularly (at least as back-up anyway).

Ireland defender Darragh Lenihan named man-of-the-match as Blackburn sink Millwall https://the42.ie/4437407

Bossed it for Blackburn yesterday. MON seemed unwilling to give Browne and Egan competitive opportunities after early poor friendly showings. Lenihan could have been subjected to similar treatment after his NI showing. These lads will appreciate a clean slate from Mick and the chance to show why they are some of the most highly rated young players in the Championship (Egan pushing on more slightly).

He was very poor against the north. Ponderous on the ball and sloppy in possession. His positioning was all over the place and he looked cumbersome. He looked like he was carrying extra timber was he coming back from injury at that stage? From a lad who was a defensive midfielder and converted to centre half you would hope he has more football ability in his locker and an ability to improve his mobility

Can't think of any positive from the game with the North so harsh judging a novice at senior level on that one game. If Lenihan keeps performing for his club, he is one of 3 to 4 viable choices to partner Duffy in the centre.

Got the opener against Swansea today. With Egan, and maybe Keogh, going up to the EPL next season, Lenihan is probably down the pecking order a little (more so if Jimmy Dunne can break into the Burnley first team). But he is playing regularly for Blackburn so he is playing at a decent level should we need back-up in a pinch so Mick should keep an eye on him - might even be worth his while bringing him to that training camp in Portugal: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48081781

3 in 5 now for Blackburn. Only 25 and captaining a team on the fringe of the playoffs. Mowbray is a good man to learn off too in his position. Hopefully will keep progressing.

Lenihan (27) has not yet renewed his contract with Blackburn Rovers, which expires next summer. So Rovers are watching John Souttar (Hearts) as a potential replacement. (Football League World, 30 Nov.)

He's started for them steadily up to the end of last season at least, per wikipedia, so he may think he can do better. At 27, with loads of Championship experience, available on a free, could he tempt a lower half Premiership club?

"Middlesbrough are reportedly on the verge of signing ....Darragh Lenihan on a four-year deal". (Teeside Live, 9 June). Boro' have let defenders Sol Bamba and Lee Peltier go, so the club are looking for a replacement. However, Boro' have not replied to the Teeside Gazette's requst for a comment. Meanwhile Blackburn Rovers say they are in contract talks with Lenihan, but that as he is over 24, he is entitled to talk to other clubs.
