Derry City v Cork City, Sunday 16th March, 3.15pm on RTE2.

http://www.corkcityfc.ie/home/2014/02/20/derry-fixture-rescheduled-for-tv/

The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division League fixture between Derry City and Cork City will be broadcast live by RTE Two.

In order to facilitate the live transmission of the fixture, the date and kick-off time have been changed.

The fixture, which was originally scheduled for March 14th, will now take place on Sunday, 16th March 2014 with a kick-off time of 3.15 pm.

Thankfully we've escaped the move to a Sunday for our opening game v Pats.

Is that for TV? Strange time to have it on. Are there any live games on the opening day?

Thanks, I saw that. The City match has a story linked and TV Channel mentioned. None of that for Pat's v Limerick which seems an odd choice of match for TV and rescheduled for a time there hasn't been a match at for years.

Yeah a very odd game to have on tv, there's going to be no one at it.

Pats vs Dundalk on April 4th changed to a 7.05 kick off.

It'll be a rush to get to Dublin for 7.05. However, I'm not surprised that it was chosen for television.

Derry City v Cork City, Sunday 16th March, 3.15pm on RTE2.

Derry-Dublin in the NFL next door in Celtic Park has a 14:00 throw-in. Madness. Absolutely farcical decision.

Ironically once the GAA season gets into full flow, there won't be any more LOI shown for months.

The League GAA and TV chiefs have to get together on this one, with the Gaelic throw in at 2pm between Derry and Dublin. Theres less than 100 metres between the two grounds and will cause traffic chaos on the day. If the match is at 4pm it allows people to attend both games on the day. Also throw in the fact that Man Utd play Liverpool at 1.30pm on Sky will only add to a decreased attendance and an embarrassement in front of the TV cameras.

Cack handed decision, and my rant on it in full can be found here (http://voicefromthestand.com/2014/02/too-much-of-a-good-thing/)

I stared at this for way too long wondering when they started playing American football in Derry.

Setanta are showing Bohs v Pats on Fri 11th July, they will also show 6 more shown live on Friday nights. I saw the dates earlier can't remember now but it was over July into August and possibly some in Sept.

Think I saw Fri 1st August listed as one which might mean Cork v Dundalk.

7 weeks of live matches.

Setanta Sports are due to screen seven Friday night matches from July 11 with matches also being broadcast on July 18 and 25 as well as August 1, 8, 15 and 29.

At least Setanta screen the matches at a reasonable time, RTE's 7:05 kick off's are a joke

other games tbc but looking at the fixture list, i would guess the game on the 18th could be either bray v shamrock rovers or limerick v derry. Bray game only game around dublin that weekend so it could be that

The fixtures haven't fallen kindly on those weekends for them.. neither game is likely to attract much interest outside of fans of the clubs involved.

Shamrock v Dundalk is on next weekend but obviously can't be switched from the Sunday.

bit of a surprise to see UCD there but I am sure the UCD lads are delighted.. Am I correct in assuming the last time UCD was on live TV was the FAI Cup Semi in 07 against us?

Nah, we've been on a couple of times since. Last time was the 2-1 defeat in the Bowl against Rovers a couple of years ago, when Rovers won the league (I think?) Game was actually postponed from the previous day due to a waterlogged pitch; only time I've ever known a UCD game to be called off. We were also on when losing 1-0 to Galway in 2008.

Funny, someone was predicting this to me at our last game, purely because there are so few games on that week. Can't see our awful TV record improving though.

That live tv fixture for Cork v UCD will surely decimate what was already prob already going to be a fairly poorly attended match ?

Hasn't been a poorly attended game at Turner's Cross all year and I wouldn't expect that to change.

Agreed, and the smallest league crowd this season at the Cross has probably been just over 2k, possibly more.

If its not on TV we could bring a large enough support

My preference is usually for the Setanta coverage. RTÉ come across as if we should be greatly that they are showing the game at all.
I'd like to see Setanta take on full rights to all live games and highlights. Possibly they could work with clubs so that people could register to watch match highlights and interviews of a club of their choice on the Setanta site. Where clubs might not have the resources for that, Setanta could possibly manage that side of it.
