Roll on derry city

Dont be OVERLY confident, we've now beaten 3 of the top 4 teams in the league in our last 4 games, Cork could be the clean sweep ;)

He was pretty poor apart from the goals i thought. Good team performance. Exellent result. How much more must he do??? He was everywhere, coming back to break down attacks, his linking with Georgie and Gamble was almost flawless, and he took both goals brilliantly. 2-goal John is definitely back in form.

Devine: 7. Two important saves, one from the top drawer when 1 – on – 1, didn’t have much else to do.
Dan Murray: 5. Made look good by Alan Bennett.
Benno: 7. Composed, confident and gets on with the job.
Greg: 7. Deserves his place, but got a royal kicking and battering tonight. Do the refs not care?
Hoggie: 7. His comeback is over, as he looks like he was never out of the first team selection. Had an opportunity to shoot on goal from 12 yards, but hesitated. Pity.
Whole defence: Even with Murray a bit shaky, they produce the results, and as long as this goes on, it is difficult to see Danny Murphy or Cillian Lordan breaking onto the first XI.
Gamble: 9. So committed, really on top of his game. He arrived by the scenic route but he has stamped his authority here. Made not one mistake all night. Distribution amazing.
Georgie: 8. In danger of earning a 9. Unfairly carded and unlucky to have his shot in the first half saved by JoF.
Kearney: 8. Another hardy performance, where he just kept creating chance after goal-mouth chance. He took some terrible tackles that went unpunished by the ref.
Woods: 7. Blasted one shot high and wide after a great build up, but set up the first goal and, er, scored the third from what looked like a cross gone wrong.
Flynny: 8. Worked as hard tonight as I ever saw him earn his crust. The guy looks like he is loving his game once again. Amen to that!
Doyler: 8. Looked a little less sharp than in recent matches, but second best from him still leaves him one of the best players in the EL.
Lopes, S. O’Flynn, Fenn: All did OK, but not on long enough to make a fair judgement.

Excellent summing up, FBP.
I can't believe the ref left their little f*cking thug number 8 on the pitch with the way he was hacking Kearney continuously.

BTW, Some nice flag waving tonight there, FPB...;)

Let's be honest storysham - the guy scores goals - he did his job, twice. That's all we need of him!

Dan Murray was very unconvincing - I'd be worried against Shels.

Devine: 7. This is becoming his usual performance. Has nothing to do for the whole game, and then pulls of one or two cracking saves.
Dan Murray: 6. I'm still not confident in him, but he passed the ball well out of defence at times.
Benno: 8. What a star. Does the job of two men at times and it doesn't bother him at all.
Greg: 7. Got his chance, and boy has he taken it. Gives us that extra physical edge we've lacked at times.
Hoggie: 8. Defending was excellent, attacking was just as good. We've missed him.
Gamble: 9. Rarely gives the ball away, and never lets the opposition keep hold of it. Composed, gritty and intelligent.
Georgie: 8. Good performance, he's doing some of the simple stuff again, as opposed to always trying to play the killer ball. So much more effective now he has gamble beside him
Kearney: 8. Class. There must be full backs thinking of retirement rather than face this guy at the moment. How more players weren't booked is beyond me given the hits he took.
Woods: 7. Played well and put in some dangerous crosses. He's not a right-winger but he's not a bad stand-in.
Flynny: 8. Deserved his goals, two great finishes and he worked so so hard.
Doyler: 8. Quiet by his standards, which means an 8 instead of his usual 9! Worked so hard and won so many balls that he had no right to get to.
Lopes: some nice touches an passed it around well.
S. O’Flynn: looked very short on match fitness, it'll take him a while to get used to this level again, but he is quality.
Fenn: showed great ball control as usual on the one or two occasions he got a touch.

For me, MOTM was between Gamble, Benno and and Kearney.
I'll try picking a winner.......

GAMBLE: 9.4/10
BENNO: 9.3/10
KEARNEY: 9.3/10

.....there ya have it: Gamble. Superb. Exactly what we needed....Roll on Derry and Tolka next Friday

REBEL ARMY .....we're gonna win the league!!

Good solid performance by everyone.A very entertaining game to watch aswell which is very rare when we get that kind of weather down here.European hangover banished well and truly now. :D

Gamble was motm imo.Getting better with every game and it's hard to believe but Colin will find it very hard to get back into the side (in centre mid, anyway)with Gamble and Georgie playing like this.

Flynny looked the best i've seen him in many months, all over the place looking for the ball and making great runs.We can finally sing ''When Johnny goes marching down the wing'' and actually see it on the pitch again.

Roll on Derry City and keep the good times rolling. :ball:

Yeah Gamble was superb last night. wasn;t impressed with him at first but he's really come into his own in the last few weeks. the amount of play he broke up and his contribution when going forward was class. he's a real box to box midfielder and could be one of the final pieces of the jigsaw.

Tthat was the best Flynny been in a long time, making great runs, linking up with Doyler and getting down to wings like the good aul days. He's really starting to look like the old Flynny that we all love now and with Doyler a great partnership is starting to come together.

Fenn must be disgusted to sit on the bench and collect his 1200e a week. ;) :D

Fenn must be disgusted to sit on the bench and collect his 1200e a week. ;) :DThe Irish Independent (I think, or maybe the Irish Times, but some Dublin comic anyway) put it at €1900 plus that snazzy car thrown in.

Re Gamble:

Watching from the Derrynane, i felt the way he broke the play up, made space for himself, and distibuted intelligently, was the work of a fantastic footballer.

He rarely puts a ball astray.

He rarely loses the ball.

If he does either of the above, he will fight to rectify his mistake.

Gamble is the midfielder City have being crying out for, since Reynolds' departure.

Last night he was superb. Only a goal would have made his performance better, and i reckon once he gets on, he will start rattling them in quite regularly.

he certianly had one or two chances on goal alright, kinda snatched at them as though he didn't expect to be so far forward! One or two goals would do his confidence no harm either
