All attacking players? I'd say fans of several teams would argue with that alone. For us, Gavin Peers has been an absolute legend - season after season of consistently top-quality defending.

Jason Byrne would be one of the top goalscorers of all time but I would'nt have him in the current top 10 players in LOI.

Surprised the likes of Peers, Simon Madden or Mark Quigley didn't get a mention.

How can Keith Fahey be considered a top 10 player when he's not played in the league for a few years? Fuzzy Logic!

By that logic if Messi came into the league you wouldn't have him top 10?

Personally think top 3 should be,

1. Towell
2. N'Do
3. Finn

The rest in that list wouldn't get into my top 20

He's no Stephen Bradley.

The top 5 'on their day' players.

I done up a top 10 in my head there before I looked at the article , got 6 , I had Kenna Quigley Peers and Forrester instead of Byrne North Hoban and O'Sullivan

Chris Forrester, Raffaele Cretaro, Gavin Brennan, Kieran Waters, Daryl Horgan...

4 of them certainly. Don't think Brennan even qualifies for that.

It's only Mark McCadden's opinion lads, we all have our own.

Interesting list but I suspect any one of us could name a different 10. And that's before the inevitable arguments about eligibility.

Various 'team of the season' threads on here have thrown a myriad of selections, and that's from us serious and well educated LOI fans :o that populate FOOT.IE. Imagine a team of the season selection before a ball is kicked.

Absolutely ridiculous reply. Fahy has been very inactive for a year if not more, and surely he is not the player he was when he graced the international scene.

He doesn't need to be to be one of the best in LOI tbh.

one of (if not the ) marquee signings of the pre season and it would be surprising if he did not get a mention in any list of top LOI players. as to whether he will live up to it or not time will tell but the same can be aid of anyone on the list.

.... harmless preseason fun and nothing to get uptight about.

Rory Patterson would get on any team in Ireland, and would be first choice striker at any club on this island

That's not true. At Rovers he'd play on the left wing and get dropped any time he scores.

That's not what he said tho, he said Fahey can't be considered in the top 10 because he hasn't played in the league in a few years. Have a read of the thread before you put up 'absolutely ridiculous' posts

And still some Derry fans wanted him out last year. Mentallers
