it's the first of the year, you know what that means, my annual plea to Dr Dre to release Detox, which currently has no release date and some are speculating it will never be released!

As is traditional, we start with the "For the love of all that is holy in heaven and Earth, will someone please tell Dr Dre to release Detox so I can sleep at night" entry

It wouldn't be right to start this thread without respecting tradition and quoting the most optimistic man on the forum and Dr. Dre loyalist, tetsujin1979. (The decade long wait will end in 2012, I'm absolutely sure of it.)

Might as well kick things off with my annual request for Dr Dre to release Detox, currently due for release in February: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detox_(Dr._Dre_album) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detox_%28Dr._Dre_album%29)

If Dr Dre would just release Detox, I'd be happy.

I'll just be happy if Dr Dre releases Detox
Think I remember saying that this time last year too!

Aren't Green Day due a new album?
Dr Dre's new album has been in the mix for while, I'd like for it to see the light of day

Dre is probably too busy coining it in from overpriced headphones! Really looking forward to The Horrors new one, due in the spring I think... Not a huge amount to get excited about yet...

Tets, have you ever considered the possibility that Dre is reading this thread and just ****ing with you?

The new James Vincent McMorrow album is due out in the next couple of weeks. I think he'll become very big in the UK.

Looking forward to hearing what "The Horrors" new one sounds like. Skying but would love to hear some of the Strange house kinda sound too. New albums from The Cult and John Cale sound promising too

Mogwai have a new one out in January. I really liked "Hardcore Will Never Die...", the first disc anyway. Mark Lanegan has a compilation out soon, but with 12 unreleased tracks too. I've ordered both.

Loving that Horrors single "I See You". Fair dues to them for having the gall to release a 7min track. I've listened to it almost non-stop until another song came along...

New album, Luminous out on May 5th.

So Future Islands are back...

I got their second album, In Evening Air in 2010 and was just astounded by it, the voice. The synth. The bass.

And then I got to see them in the Workman's Club in Dublin and I was spellbound. Sam Herring is an unbelievable Front man.

And then just over 2 years ago they played in Whelan's to support 3rd album On The Water and again I was blown away by the guy again...

...and then they released the the first single from the new album...

And I have pretty much listened to it non-stop since I got to Canada. It's too good.

And then Samuel went and did this...

New album (annoyingly called "Singles") was released yesterday. It's glorious. DO IT!

Just bought a ticket to their gig at the end of April in Carrboro, North Carolina (cos the DC and NY gigs were sold out)... Can't wait!

Decent enough tune, but would prefer a few "Strange House" type songs. Really liked "Skying" but much perfer the edginess and rawness of their original sound.

I was never the biggest fan of Strange House. I think they changed direction for the better. It does show their obvious talent. As did Cat's Eyes for Faris.

I'm always impressed with bands who can pull it off. I would like to think that Luminous will be darker (oddly named if such) and may return them back to the grittier Strange house days as maybe it is time to investigate other parts of the musical universe with the fourth album.

Hooray for Earth have not pulled it off with their new one, Racy...

In other news, Interpol's new one El Pintor is up on NPR for streaming.

Decent enough effort based on the first listen. Way better than the prĂ¡isce that was Interpol (their last album).
