Waterford United captain John Frost could be forced to sit out next Sunday’s FA Ireland Carlsberg Cup final against Longford Town at Lansdowne Road after suffering an injury in Friday night’s eircom League Premier Division clash with Cork City.
Frost has suffered his fair share of injuries this season, missing over a month of the season after damaging ankle ligaments during training in July.
He fought his way back to fitness after that blow and showed impressive form on returning to Alan Reynolds’s back four last month, his restoration to the Blues’ side coinciding with the club’s best run of form all season.
However, the 24-year-old left back looks set to miss out after sustaining neck and shoulder injuries in the 4-1 defeat to Cork City at the RSC three days ago.
Player/manager Alan Reynolds told the Irish Daily Star: “I’m not ruling him out yet but it doesn’t look good. I’ll give him every chance, but ... I’d say it’s 70/30 against, so it’s not looking good. It’s a shame for John as he’s been most unfortunate with injuries this season.”
