According to the Mirror, the FAI are to send paperwork to 28-year-old Hull centre-half, Curtis Davies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Davies), in the hope he'll switch from the FA, for whom he played twice at under-21 level between 2006 and 2007: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ireland-want-hulls-curtis-davies-2653131?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Davies qualifies to play for us through Irish grandparents.

Hull star Curtis Davies is wanted by the Republic of Ireland - leaving the England hopeful facing a big dilemma.

Centre-back Davies, 28, has been in outstanding form for newly-promoted Tigers this season.

And having previously been Fabio Capello’s first provisional England squad and on the bench for a friendly against Germany in 2008., England scouts have now let the uncapped former Luton trainee knows he is on their radar again.

They ran the rule over Davies’ latest solid showing in Hull’s narrow 1-0 loss at Totternham on Sunday.

Now, he could earn a call-up for next month's England friendly with Chile as manager Roy Hodgson prepares to look at his options for the World Cup next summer.

However, Davies has also been contacted by the FAI this month - despite Ireland currently being managerless after sacking Giovanni Trapattoni.

Davies qualifies for the Republic through his grandparents, and the FAI are sending him all the paperwork he'd need to lodge with the English Football Association to change his allegiance.

It all leaves the defender, who told MirrorSport earlier this month that it was his dream to represent England, with a decision to make.

Davies' Hull displays have revived the reputation of a player who cost Aston Villa £10million in 2008 from West Brom but joined Hull from Birmingham just £3m this summer.

The more options, the better! It will be interesting to see if he actually plays for us. It was only a few years ago Luke Chambers completed the paperwork, and well, that's all that happened. To be fair, Davies is a much better player.

Cue the "no thanks, don't want him" comments.

I'm slightly surprised he's still only 28.....it seems like a long time ago he went to Villa for some huge some of money.

Decent player but I've no time for players who represent England or any other nation at youth or the Under age levels, then claim their Irish to try and get senior international football.

Give me 11 Kevin Kilbanes or Sean St Ledgers who both turned down chances to play for other countries as they only wanted to play for Ireland.

On a side note, wasn't it Martin O'Neill who bombed Cary Cahill out at Villa bringing in Davies for stupid money in preference?

Like I say, no thanks, only 100% committed players for Ireland for me.

Stuttgart's gut hasn't reacted well to this one.

Sean St Ledger only wanted to play for Ireland , give us all a break. You posted previously that you would play with the North if you weren't picked.

Ah, so that's why you have it in for poor Ciaran Clark?

You??? Me???? Not me, who me? Is that you? No it's me.

And what happened a few weeks later?

He got called up by Ireland, you'd be surprised who reads such forums.
