Bray Wanderers defender Wesley Charles faces a race against time to be back in Wicklow for the important eircom League First Division clash with Athlone Town tomorrow (kick off 7.45 p.m.)

The central defender missed St. Vincent and the Grenadines' 7-0 CONCACAF Group 3 qualifier defeat to Mexico in Pachuca on Wednesday October 5 because of the Bray/Kildare clash the same evening.

But he starred in their return leg at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown last Sunday (October 10).

Although St. Vincent lost 1-0, Charles came agonisingly close in the first minute of the second period to grabbing an equaliser with a left foot effort that scrapped the outside of a post.

He was then scheduled to fly to Basseterre for the s game against St. Kitts and Nevis last night (October 13),

But he has not forgotten about getting back to the Carlisle Grounds for the vital fixture with the Midlanders.

'Hopefully I will get back in time. It's a lot of travelling but it's a big game.

'We didn't lose to Kildare which important. With six games to go, we know will go up if them win them all,' he added.

It's a big weekend in both the race for promotion, and the title.

Leaders Finn Harps travel to Terryland Park to take on Galway United while UCD are set to face Kildare County at Station Road.

A Bray win would ensure that would steal a march on two of their four rivals. But manager Pat Devlin is still taking the line of one game at a time.

'Our only focus is on Athlone, and getting the three points.

'We can't take them for granted. Last season, they beat us twice in St. Mel's Park and that cost us promotion.

'This is the sort of games were teams could slip up and get punished,' continued Devlin.

Already this season, the Seagulls have beaten the 'Town 2-1 at the Carlisle and 2-0 at St. Mel's, with John Flood scoring in both outings.

With midfielder Colm James serving a one match ban, the Green and Whites will be hopeful that Colm Tresson will be available. A calf injury has keep the 33-year-old out of the last three matches.

Kevin Grogan is still sidelined with a hamstring injury. Both Graham O'Hanlon and Robbie McGuinness (knee injuries) will also miss out.

n New signing Justin Pasfield could miss the final three games of the season after he was called up by the Australian under 20s for a tour of South America in November.

They are due to play Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay which will mean the goalkeeper could be unavailable for the clashes with Dundalk, Limerick FC and Monaghan United.
