Could be a good idea. With the big population in their catchment area and no real competition from gaa and rugby, someone with a high profile like Roddy might get some more fans to the Brandywell. He is not too bad at managing a soccer team either, and has some decent contacts for finding good LoI players.

Be a disaster for all your local players if Roddy got Derry job. Flood the place with all his family and ****e. My moneys still on him ending up at cork. That story today was all the work of the irish star for whom roddy "writes" for

Roddys column in the star didn't mention any League of Ireland job. The only reference he made to the League was a congratulations to Tony Cousins on getting to the play-off final.

He really wont be welcome in Cork, and i hope the board know that. And he should know that himself anyway. If he does end up here then we'll be in controversy corner until he is gone because i dont think people will take it lying down, lots of bad blood since Tom Coughlan tried to bring him in a few years ago. He slated the fans at the time and people have not forgotten.

Roddy has applied for Cork and is in talks with them i believe. But as of today Roddy has said he has not talked to Derry. But this is roddy we are talking about so he could have been talking to them.

I'd welcome roddy with open arms. He'd bring back the crowds.

Not a snowball's chance in hell he'll end up with us. I would actually be incredibly shocked if that were to happen considering the history.

He would probably convince some of the Dublin based LOI players to come to Cork. Don't think he'll get the job though.

Nah!;)

It's immaterial anyway, as he won't be given the job.

Kenny Shiels , who was manager of Kilmarnock is interested in the job according to the Irish sun.

That's been around for a while it seems, but Shiels is applying for every job going by all accounts.

Roddy for FAI CEO?

That'll be a wicked combination with his Zimbabwean girlfriend.

Of course, you could be right. But it really would be absolutely shocking to me. I can't see there being any chance of it. I'm sure he's applied, and will possibly be interviewed along with other candidates, but I really don't think he has any chance of being offered the job.

If I'm wrong, well, I've had managers I've strongly disliked before!
