View Full Version : Our rivals are taking it seriously
Drogheda are playing Derry away tomorrow night. They are travelling up this evening and training in Derry tonight and tomorrow morning. This is a very professional approach for a semi professional club. It just shows they are doing everything in their power to at least finish second. This is the equivalent of City travelling to Waterford on the thursday evening for a friday match. Some hope of that.
Haven't they just gone pro this season?
Agree though, this is a very good idea and should benefit them.
Semi Pro. One of their players works with me and took a half day to travel up.

not quite the same. i think drogheda is a bit further from derry than cork is from waaaaaterford. In fairness I think City have overnighted a few times this year and have also flown to Dublin once or twice- anyone know for sure?
Drogs seem to be on a bad run so i'm sure this some sort of attempt to get the team spirit back a bit & freshen things up with a break from the norm...
Drogheda no more than 2.5 hours from derry i'd say.
Pretty sure Drogs are mainly full time, certainly most of the first team at this stage.

Your all very well informed on here.
Yes Drogheda is about 2.5 hrs from Derry.
Most of the first team are full time with 1 or 2 exceptions.

Yes, I believe ye have overnighted in Ashbourne on the way to Derry, and flown to Dublin for one game.
