Ireland are now 66/1 to win. Tempting Tricky?

Very were only 25-1 when I looked, which I though was a bit mean, 66 is tempting, even 10p gets a good return.

Could only get 40-1 but I shoved another 20p in :)

Yeah - 1-0 is a great score & v dangerous for them - they are complacent and we are in a great position to turn this into a victory.

He was a good player, failed manager, may well be a sound man but he is a disaster as a analyst/co-commentater.

And yet I'm sure he's on a lovely wedge from the RTE sports Dept. gravy train.

3-0 is about right. Forde would be a Premier League player if he could improve his distribution. Strange that there were no substitutions.

I was going to say that Stokes was the one good thing from the game but that last chance he had was disturbing how much he flopped it. He kept making intelligent runs the whole game which was great to see.

All in all very depressing. Noel King showed a lack of intelligence and as usual our midfield was swamped. Our passing was horrific and no leaders on the pitch yet again. The lack of substitutes was also bizarre as you could see the team was completely knackered by the end of it.

We are in transition, a string of depressing games to come i hate to say

Why didn't King bring on fresh legs in midfield and up front?

The players were shattered chasing shadows.

Seems that King can talk the talk but not walk the walk.

Well done to Forde and the lads at the back.

Stokes and Gibson showed why Trap never picked them, useless.

Why wasn't Long playing? He was fit.

Pretty poor. Have to question King's line-up an tactics and when was the last time any team played 90minutes without making a sub(well since the 60's anyhow). Thank god for David Forde amazing perfromance

I thought it was funny at the final whistle when Glen Whelan went straight to Ozil to ask him to swap his jersey. Ozil wasnt too interested in talking to him.

Snappin all round.. King lost all objectivity when selecting that team. It's like he hyper analysed the german team and thought he was being super clever picking what he thought was the best team to nullify Germany..

That should be a factor in any selection (don't get me wrong) but not the sole factor. King didn't consider our players and what they could bring to the table. Tried to be too clever thinking "outside the box".

Forde's performance was commendable but nothing you wouldn't expect at that level IMO.

Forget it, even a 'decent' Ireland side could easily have lost 3-0. Germany are that much better.

King clearly using as a training exercise and still hopeful we can sneak a win v. the Kazakhs and somehow get third?

Actually, there's no way we can come 3rd. FFS.

Bizarre night really not sure I know what Kings game plan was anymore than the players did. I think once Robbie wasn't going to play his original plan went out the window.

Disappointed Sheamie didn't have more of an impact maybe the captaincy was too much too soon.

Thought Gibson and Whelan did ok but there was too many players either out of position or just not at the races.

As for Ronnie Whelan, when he said after 60 secs "the Irish players can't seem to get a hold of the ball" I switched off. A fantastic footballer but an absolute clown, if it's not Liverpool he's not interested.

It's going to take a period of time, I'm not sure how much, to get some players mindset changed from the trap era.

True... But still!! Analysis Paralysis happened Noel King tonight with that selection. Kerr used to be guilty of it to a degree but not to tonight's extent.

I was shocked by the team selection as well. It was a tough job for King to take on though. Up against one of the best teams in the world, without the 3 most experienced players and having a very much inexperienced back 4. I suppose the team was mainly picked for containment. Concede as few goals as possible and hopefully have stolen a goal. Some of Stokes' decision making was disappointing intermingled with some good play. I'll cut King some slack for tonight's bizarre nullifying selection if he puts out a team with the right balance for defence and attack, with the right players in the right positions, for Tuesday night.

I'd be embarrassed to do that.
You lose 3-0 and all you're worried about is swapping jerseys. I remember Green doing the same against Russia with Arshavin

King wasn't been paid enough to make substitutions.

Can't understand why Noel did not make any subs, he took a load of players out there he could at least
have given some of them some game time, especially Andy Reid.

What did he gain from making no subs? Nothing,

It's rude apart from anything else. Pointless and a waste of time..

I had some optimism before the match but we would have been better off with Trap.

The clowns running the FAI need a kick up the ass, assuming they can find someone who would not miss it.

Germany were class.
Not sure why Doyle was on the left wing and Whelan on the right. Found that baffling.

But on the plus side, I think we can say Forde has nailed down the Number 1 spot and played very well. Kept the score way down.
Stokes I thought showed some nice play at times. We looked like we had the potential to counter attack, though we didn't take any of those chances.

We had more chances in the game than I think we did in both our last competitive matches put together.
We didn't hoof the ball up the pitch at every opportunity and at least looked like playing/wanting to play a bit of football at times.

I don't think it's all doom and gloom. The team is in a period of transition and tonight was a very tough test for players who have been playing under the same system for the last 5 years.

I think there are positives to be taken.

Really disappointed no subs were brought on though. What was that about? Nothing to lose by throwing on a player or two (McClean, Reid, Hoolahan, Long etc)

He was a good player, failed manager, may well be a sound man but he is a disaster as a analyst/co-commentater.

And yet I'm sure he's on a lovely wedge from the RTE sports Dept. gravy train.

That makes him perfect for RTE so.

I also can't stand Dunphy at this stage - nothing player and nothing analyst.

All the other RTE analysts are infected by his negativity and boring one dimensional analysis - ie Ireland are crap - every Irish manager is crap - most of the players are crap - we're a crap country and so on and so forth. It's just armchair analysis from people who failed as managers.

Giles I'd have time for. It's ironic that RTE have probably the best analyst in the British Isles in Giles and the worst in Dunphy. I had to laugh at the start of tonight's program when Bill O'Herily referred to Dunphy as an "expert".

As for the game tonight, 3-0 was a true reflection of a team of Bayern Munich, etc players as well as Ozil, probably the second best player in the world today against a team of lower EPL/Championship players. Andy Reid is supposed to be our most technically gifted player and yet he plays in the Championship.

People need to get real.

I think Martin O'Neill is just waiting for a club to come in for him in the EPL and the Irish job is a last resort. He's not dumb. He knows we don't have the talent, the FAI are a joke, and clowns like Dunphy will be calling for his head at half time of his first competitive match.

Thanks.

While I am on the anti Dunphy rant, did I hear correctly at the start of tonights program that he wouldn't have Forde in goals? Forde has been superb since stepping into Givens shoes - wasn't it Westwood that let in 6 the first time against Germany...Forde gave one of the best displays of an Irish goalkeeper I can remember tonight and was deserved man of the match. I'll give Dunphy the benefit of the doubt on this one but if he did say Forde shouldn't be in the team its one more example of his poor analysis.

A couple of years ago he called Gibson a nothing player which of course is bullsh*t. Gibson is not world class but he can be decent enough when he wants. A month ago Dunphy said it was wrong Gibson wasn't in the squad and Brady pulled him up on that one reminding him of what he said before. Before the game tonight Dunphy says he doesn't rate Gibson.

Dunphy is a complete clown - is there anyone else they can put on the panel or do we have to listen to his incoherant ramblings after every Irish game?

The panel always sound half cut at the end of games by the way or am I just imagining it.

Tonigth we saw the immediate future of Irish football. Robbie, Dunne and O'Shea have been great, but their time is over. While the tactics were certainly negative, the personnel will remain pretty much the same. It was great to see another forward get a chance and Stokes did pretty well. Under Trap he would never have got a chance and hopefully the new manager will take risks and build a squad, not just a team. We were outplayed, but I think there are positives for the future. The likes of Hoban, Duffy, Drennan and Madden should be given opportunties in next year's friendlies to help reinforce positions where we are a bit light in talent.
