Very disappointing South-East derby in the RSC tonight as the match was over after 18 minutes after a poor Wexford start to the game. Wexford started with Graham, Craig, Gary, Robert, Shane, Donal, Brian, Patsy, Eric, Clarkey and with Rocks up front. Wexford didn't get out the blocks at the start and paid the price. In the first minute, Waterford won a corner and one Blues forward was allowed to meet the incoming ball on his own in the box but he shot over. On six minutes, a low cross from the right evaded everyone, and Quilty had an easy finish for 1-0 to the Blues. A minute later, Graham did well to push away a volley from a corner. On nine minutes, Wexford couldn't clear the ball inside their own box, and the ball fell again to Quilty who was able to volley it home for 2-0. Wexford's first effort came after ten minutes when Clarkey had a run and a shot but it went wide. Then, on 18 minutes, the assistant referee flagged for an off-the-ball incident which resulted in a straight red for Rocks and the game was effectively over. Didn't see it so can't comment.

Game thereafter was a damp squib especially from a Youth's point of view. On 22 minutes, Graham had to stretch to keep out a mi**** shot which was trckiling into the corner of the goal. On the half-hour, Ben Ryan got a yellow for a tackle on Clarkey. Five later, Youths could have conceded a peno when a shot hit an out-stretched arm but the ref waved it away. Eric then had a half-chance for the Youths but flicked it first-time straight at Hyland in the Blues' goal. With seven to go in the half, waterford had a break and Graham advanced to win the first tackle. But it broke straight to Peter White who had a simple tap-in for 3-0 to the home side. Gary then hit the Blues' crossbar with a long-range effort and Waterford could have scored a fourth just before the blow, but it was put wide from a tight enough angle for 3-0 at half-time.

Second-half was a non-event and had relatively few chances for either side with Waterford content with the result. Nearest chance for the Youths came midway through the half when Hyland had to stretch to palm away a header by Patsy. Danny and Daryl both came on late on for the Youths while Caolan came on for Patsy with only injury-time remaining. Right on the ninety, McLarney, a Blues' sub, drilled one top right from 30 yards out to give Graham no chance and 4-0. Playing with a man down, Wexford's only real ploy in this half was to try to get Clarkey away down the left but this rarely worked on a very disappointing night for the away side. Waterford had by far the best player on the pitch in Drukie Drohan who showed a clever touch and nice weight of pass not often seen in this Division. 4-0 to the home side at full-time.
