just thinking, are we going to get a "giants stadium" experience again when a 50/50 crowd split with italy turned into about 70/30 for ireland.
the french tickets have been on sale for ages without selling out so there was/is scope for as many irish that want to go, to get tickets.

the official expectation is about 30,000 irish, but factor in the unknown element -
people who live on the continent etc and you might do it :)

Gerry McDermott was on TalkSport at around 06:50 this morning as the presenters was virtually gobsmacked when they considered the 25,000 Irish fans expected to be there. Gerry said that FAIreland got 19,000 tickets and 25,000 are due to travel from Ireland. He said that didn't take into account UK and Continental Europe based Irish supporters. The presenters felt we could get something from this game.

There's every possibility 12th this could be the case,in this week's Irish post over here, they reckoned that around fifteen thousand from the Irish community in Britain were going on top of god know's how many are coming over from Ireland, then with the amount of Irish living all over Europe there's every chance that it could be a Green army of up to near the forty thousand mark. :D

Bear in mind France got 43,000 for Israel and drew 0-0 at home - many may not fancy coming back.

I think we will have 40,000 there.

The match is sold out. There will certainly not be less than 30,000 Irish travelling. I'd say there'll be 45,000 French with about 25,000 actual fans who want to sing (the rest are suits and VIP's). It is a known fact that drunk travelling fans are a lot louder than the homies so I think its a certainty that we'll be a lot louder.

The best thing about this is its on a Saturday evening which gives people loads of time to get drunk. :)

From what i have read in the papers and heard on the radio it is quite possible that we will out number the french... Can you imagine people back home watching the match and seeing that many of us at an away match it will be brilliant... We will be another good example of what great supporters we are..

By the way i just got a Text from a mate of mine who is in Paris already (Lucky Fecker) and he said the weather is nice and the sun is out with blue skies..

He also said he was going for a beer :( and asked me how work was!!!!

According to this article here (http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/internationals/story.jsp?story=569586) there will be 35,000 Irish at the game, we could very well outnumber the French!
