Wexford will be happy enough with the point tonight as it breaks the five match losing run and as Longford shaded the match in terms of chances created. Shane Keegan put the returning Patsy into centre-half and played directly in a 4-4-2 pattern with Graham, Craig, Gary, Patsy, Shane, Danny Fitz, Donal Shanley,Brian, Eric and Graham and Joey up front. Youths played with the breeze in the first 45 and had a tendency to overhit straight down the pitch resulting in a number of easy takes by Bennion in the Longford goal. After three minutes, O'Sullivan, again lively, was sent clear down the right and Graham had to push his shot away for a corner. First effort by the Youths was after eight when Bennion had to save from Shane Nolan. On thirteen, Graham made an excellent save with his legs to keep O'Sullivan's effort out. On 24 minutes, Bennion dropped Craig's long throw-in but Donal hit it wide from ten out. With 33 minutes gone, Brian picked up a yellow for a tackle. With eight to go in the half, a good move by the Youths put Joey clear down the left and his low cross found Graham but he couldn't prod it home from ten out. Danny Fitz then got a yellow for a pull-back and the half finished when a corner by the Youths found Gary on his own in the box but he again flashed it wide for 0-0 at half time. Even enough with the best save having to be made by Graham.

Second half was more or less the same pattern as the first with Graham again doing well to save with his legs to keep the match scoreless. This was after five minutes when a cross from the right by Longford was turned goalwards but Graham kept it out with his pegs. Chances thereafter were rare on both sides. On fifteen Graham had a shot deflected for a corner. With twenty gone, Purdy came on for Quinn for Longford. With 28 minutes gone, Craig got a yellow for a pull-back. Former Youth, Gavin Doyle, then came on for O'Hanlon and two further yellow cards were then picked up by Patsy and Gary. Just on the ninety, a Longford player rose to meet a corner but it slipped off the side of his head and wide. Longford had a number of corners in the second but didn't really threaten from any to leave the match at 0-0 at full-time. Youths didn't make any substitutions during the match.

Best for Wexford were Joey, who looked a new player up front rather than in midfield, and the Nolan twins while Patsy added the usual steel at the back. Having decided to play more direct, Wexford now need to work on the quality of the ball being played up front, and the set-piece again was generally poor due to poor delivery. 0-0 at full-time with about 320 at the match.
