So, 48 hours until the changeover, and still no definitive word from UPC about which, if any, sports channels will be FTA after August 1st. Plenty of rumours flying around on other sites, but if they do end up PPV, there would appear to be little reason not to switch to Sky.
They've just tweeted they'll make an announcement tomorrow. Wouldn't be promoting it if it was "we're not carrying it"

What was the announcement? it's "access denied" for me on ESPN and BT1 & BT2. If that's the case, I'll be packing in UPC tomorrow!

€16 a month for ESPN, Setanta 1 and BT1 and 2 on the UPC package. Not happy to have lost ESPN from the free package. Tempted to bite the bullet and pay, particularly for all the UFC content and some decent football on BT.

Last UPC bill - €94, and that was just for their Digital Max package with multiroom! Now, one imagines they'll be open to a bit of haggling with the competition posting leaflets through the door on a daily basis, but if they want me to shell out €16 extra a month, there'd better be a significant discount offered to the main bill.

I had broad band and Max plus package that was costing a fortune. Phoned to downgrade broadband and they ended up telling me about the same package including a phone for about €30 a month less. Including 100 free minutes on the phone, but no obligation to use the phone at all and no charge directly linked to it. It's well worth ringing them. Will be ringing about the BT sport package today I think. I'll be asking about any reduction on the Max package seeing as it's lost 3 or 4 stations too.
