Answers on a postcard please. Was wondering if we could be the first team to do it? Obviously they lost in paris before but in the new stadium I'm not so sure.

O'Driscoll's hat-trick forgotten so soon??

I know the football team have lost there at least once in a competitive international (2-3 against Russia in the Euro 2000 quals, IIRC) and also a couple of friendly defeats to Belgium and the Czechs, off the top of my head. Possibly more.

They lost in a friendly against the Czech's in Feb 2003. The last and only time they lost a competitive match was 99 against Russia. So, only twice.

I think the question you should be asking is, have France ever played the Republic of Ireland in the Stade de France?
Forget the others.
This game is unprecedented!
Anything can happen.

Has Ireland ever won there ?

Our football team have a 100% record in the Stade de France - won all our games there. errr saturday is the first one.

We won 2-0 in Paris in 1937 but lost 3 and drew 1 since then .

However we made our International debut in Paris in the 1924 Olympics - tricolour flew at a sporting event for the 1st time ever as we beat Bulgaria 1-0. Now classed as an amateur International but was seen as a full International up until the 40's by the f,.A.i. - I think it is wrongly classified now. No prizes for guessing weho robbed us of a semi final place in extra time - you guessed it - the Dutch.....

There's one way we look like being definate winners - the crowd. According to the London Independent there will be 19,000 Irish ticket holders at the game but they are predicting 35,000 will travel. Has any other nation sent this many to an away game ?

I'm sure they have, Celtic brought 80,000 to play Porto so I'm sure a whole country could bring more than 35,000.

How many countries catered for Celtic's support. That was a cup final in spain in the height of summer.

This is a qualifier for 3 points in October.

How is that figure compiled/validated?
Surely they didn't all get tickets?
Anyway, it's not like they have an International team they can follow :p :D

Actually, I think you'll find many of the 35000 were also part of the 80000.
