The attendance last night really was appalling. The weather didn't help but it really was disheartening to see. A lot has been said in the past but something really needs to be done to try and boost attendances. The ground is a credit to the club and the team are doing really well on the field. I do feel we must try as a club to come up with something to increase attendances. Anyone any thoughts?

In fairness it is a great Idea but needs to be publicised far more.. From what i can gather it was only in the leader? Flyers in schools, in polish and a few languages, something has to be done

First I've heard about this, and that's the problem!

Think we need to start targeting schools by getting players to go Around hand out promotional tickets etc and as Cabs said print stuff in polish etc.

still think if could post the highlights of games to show people the standard of football is beter than what they think.. ive tried for ages now to try n sort geting a match dvd as one of the lads has said he would have no problem editing it and this could be easily posted on the fb page (and shown in clubhouse)... few new faces recently all said they though the football was far beter than they thought it would be.. its something that could easily be done

Lads, from an outside perspective..and I know that a lot of clubs are guilty of this...but there was no posters, no billboards, no sign of a League of Ireland club inside the town itself when Harps were down. There's not even a signpost in the town centre pointing to the ground.
The club need to start doing a bit more than they are it seems. A few sign posts in the town, a few posters up around on empty shop windows and such. It would all make a massive difference.
It was thoroughly disappointing to see such a small crowd for the Harps match there in such a lovely ground.

More than happy to do up A3 promotional posters for each home game, get one of yourselves to print out a load of them and put them around them. Click stats for the website show most of our clicks come from................ Dublin!
In fairness there are plenty of posters up each week that we have a home game. You can't really drive far in town without seeing one or two, they are at each roundabout entering town and at each set of traffic lights in the town.
I dont think a few more posters would make much of a difference, the majority of people in town are fully aware of how the town are doing and would claim to have an interest, however they are less interested in actually going to games..

Agree, again target schools in places such as newton, drumlish, killoe etc. I remember when longford gaa got promoted to division 1 in 2004 the county board went round to every single school and handed out these little cards which invited you to pearse park for free (although it was free for kids anyway) but it just promoted the fact and it lead to a lot of my friends going to watch longford for the first time, we need to do something like that.

Pity there wasn't another 16 people there. Then you could all have spent a lot of the match shouting "THIS IS LONGFORD!" and throwing spears through people's heads.
