A few handy phrases to learn before Le big kick-off…


Allemagne dix points - "such is life"

Au contraire - "hang on a minute"

Au revoir - French for "Hello"

Boeuf a la mode - "You win some, you lose some"

Bon Appetit - "I hope you choke on the potatoes"

Bonjour - French for "Goodbye"

Bonnet de douche - Impressive.

Chambourcy Nouveau! - "NOW it all makes sense!"

Chateauneuf du Pape! - “Oh Sh*t!”

Creme de la menthe - The very best

Fabrique Belgique - I agree or approve

Fromage Frais! - Eureka! (when the penny has dropped)

Menage a Trois! - An exclamation of suprise

Oeuf sur la plat- Clear cut

Plume de ma Tante!- "Gordon Bennett!"

Pot Pourri! - "I don't believe it!"

Tel Aviv - "Such is life".

Tete de veau- "Every one’s a winner".

Tete-a-tete - A head to head meeting with drug barons.

Tres bien ensemble - to possess a sense of occasion

Vive la France! - what you say with respect to the American national anthem.

Voila! - The French say it after T-cutting a square inch of the Capri Ghia, it's a way of encouraging Rodney to finish the rest of the car off.
