Deserved win for the Youths at the RSC tonight where they looked the far hungrier against the Blues who were very lethargic on the night. Wexford started with Graham, Craig, Gary, Jamie, Jimmy, Crokey, Shane, Joey, Eric, Rocks and with Deano up front. Wexford dominated the pace from the start and after two minutes, Hyland in the Blues goal and Gary collided at a Youth's corner. After five, Deano had a good chance from a header but put it wide. After ten, Breener got a yellow for a tackle for Waterford. The Blue's first effort came after 13 minutes, when Graham had to get down to hold a deflected cross. Jamie then did well to deflect a Blue's cross over his own bar for a corner. Joey then had a one-on-one with Hyland but his low effort was pushed away for a corner. From this corner, the ball went beyond the far post and was returned into the box where Jamie prodded it home for 1-0 to the away side.

On the half-hour, Craig got a yellow for a tackle and Deano got a rasper away which was pushed over by Hyland. With three to go in the half, Rocks got through down the left but miscued his shot beyond the far post for 1-0 to the Youths at half-time. Youths very much first to the ball during the first 45, but Waterford looking dangerous with far better delivery from set-pieces, which the Youths could learn from. Waterford applied some pressure at the beginning of the second and after five, Crokey got a yellow for a tackle. Two later, Graham and Long picked up yellows for a bout of handbags just beside the goal. After ten, Wexford nearly had the ball in the net after a shot from Eric but it was blocked on the line by a defender.

Game more or less fizzled out from then on with Waterford bringing on O'Connor, Doherty and Quilty and with their new winger (Doherty ?) looking impressive down the right side. Youths had a couple of more chances themselves on the break but poor execution meant that the score stayed at 1-0. With ten to go, Glen came on for Deano to roam about up front. Two efforts, both just whizzing past the far post, from White and Doherty for Waterford then wrapped the game up with Sullivan picking up a yellow right on the blow for Waterford on the ninety.

Best for Wexford on the night were Rocks, Crokey and Gary but the whole team put in a huge effort to dominate their opponents in terms of tackling and work-rate. Waterford didn't seem to have any desire and, other than some good delivery into the box, were largely second-best. 1-0 to the Youths at full-time.
