surprised there is no thread on this already. I saw during a commercial break in Setanta Cup Final that there is a documentary on Roddy Collins next month on Setanta called the Rod Squad. God help us especially if he goes on about the Phoenix Park!

It was an enjoyable programme too as I recall, worth a watch if you haven't seen it before.
Do I remember Tom Dunne doing the voice-over or am I doting?

It's genuinely compelling viewing at the start but you end up watching it through your fingers, especially at the end. I am struggling to remember which reviewer (I am 99% sure it's the Sligo fan who reviews tv for the inm daily rag) said it was a fascinating insight into the depths of delusion and descent into insanity of one man and his ambitions. But I think it was directed more towards JC than RC.

Class. Hope I get to see it. I used to watch it when it was on first time round and, as Spud says, it was through my fingers. Roddy had a less than sophisticated approach to coaching them. Far from tiki-taka.

Are you sure this is the original Rod Squad that's airing? Could have sworn I saw somewhere that he was filming a follow-up to it months back.

He said in his bit in one of the papers a few weeks ago that it was about his time with Monaghan.

the clip on the tv is him now more than likely is from his monaghan days as they used to train in Phoenix Park those days. Athlone Town train in Athlone dont they?
