At Monday's KDL monthly meeting, secretary John O'Regan is to propose a motion asking clubs to support the entry of a Kerry representative side into the U-19 League, and, given that the motion has the backing of the KDL Executive, it is expected to pass unanimously. The one ambiguity concerning the idea is that it calls for the team to join in "2014" - one presumes the intention is to join immediately (2013-14), rather than waiting 12 months (2014-15), but Aldo will surely clarify this before the meeting is held.

Be an excellent move, with a possible senior team to follow.

Wasnt at that meeting Culloty so not sure when they will enter it . My only concern is will the players in the county unite . I think it all depends on the Manager , who ever that may be . If its a Tralee man will he get the backing of players form outside tralee for example Killarney and Listowel and likewise if its a Killarney man will the Tralee players give the respect needed . Have seen problems in this issue with The Kerry youths and oscar traynor teams over the last 5 years . It would be intersting to see a shortlist off managers and coaches for the position .

Kerry youths were a bit poor in the last few years,19s will be a step up to that,i feel they might struggle.

Something like this would be massive down in Kerry . There is a lot of work going into underage football but as soon as players reach around 15 16 there seems to be no outlet to test themselves so they either turn to Gaa or just get lazy and lose interest in soccer . Be great to have a Munster U 16 league and an National U 19 league so there is a clear pathway for players . It would be win win for players and clubs , players getting good experience and clubs getting the benefit of getting better players . This years Kennedy cup team finished 13th but how many of those players will still be playing ball in 2 or 3 years .

The KDL have confirmed plans to enter the U-19 League starting in June 2014 - they emphasised that KDL clubs would be accommodated in fitting fixtures to suit the squad, so there seems to be no interest in expanding the idea to senior football.

Cant see it ever getting the go ahead at senior level , but that is my opionion and its a pity as a county team wouuld be great to have . Still I will be very interested in seeing who will manage and coach the U19 team for the 2014 season . It will need alot of commitment from players and management team . Very interesting times ahead .
