I remember thinking about 8 years ago that this guy was worth watching. Forest just missed out on promotion and Thompson played defensive midfield despite being a natural defender. He was doing quite well.
Anyway, Forest went backwards as did Thompson and he has now retired after a traumatic facial injury.

Very sad story actually. Poor guy. A guy I play with here from Bolton had a very similar injury by all accounts. How the fck does that sort of sh!t still happen on the pitch?

What is barged into the pitch side hoardings mean? It sounds....nautical.

It means he was pushed/forced into the advertising hoarding that lines the pitch. It's often impossible to tell what sort of fencing is behind the hoardings and what condition it is in.
