Who is the greatest ever player in Cork soccer history in your opinion, and why? You must have seen him play though............

Going with Roy Keane, even if a lot of people get the hump with it :p :p
For Other league of Ireland players I thought Patsy Freyne and Johnny Caulfield were legends............. I'm too young to remember the sixties and seventies

Very difficult question. Look at all the goals Pat Morley got. One of the best strikers in el/loi history.

Ok Dave Barry, Patsy Freyne Ollie Cahill for skill, I feel Gerry McCabe should get amention here to.

Great defenders we had in Paul Bannon, Declan Daly (in his prime ) and Liam Murphy.

Biscuits and Devine are worthy of a mention too.

I think the current crop of players are too young to judge yet

Dave Barry, Patsy Freyne, Pat Morley and George O'Callaghan.
However, there are so many more that I could mention, it's too difficult to single out any player.

lads im amazed that only a few people have included john caulfield as one of our geatest ever players......he was and is a legend, longest ever serving player with one club in eL history and also one of the top scorers.hes my all-time hero.......fair enough, george, john etc. are great players but have yet in my eyes proved themselves worthy of greatest player of all time status

1.JOHNNY CAULFIELD
2.pat morley
3.dave barry
4.patsy freyne
5.ollie cahill

back in the 60s/70s there were unbelievable players, paddy shortt being on being one local cork man.

1. Davey Barry . Best Cork player never to win a full international cap
2. Johnny Caulfield. All time leading CCFC scorer.
3. Deccie Daly. Tough as nails and a real leader on and off the pitch.

Not fair to judge any of the current crop. Though if Flynnie reclaimed his pre injury form he'd be in with a shout.

Best Cork player never to win a full international cap? Toss up between Austin Noonan and Donal Leahy, IMHO.

Dave might have managed it, only for the GAA...

in todays current climate of introducing eL players on a bigger scale i think he'd (Johnny C) walk into the Irish team ahead of Clinton "Bling Bling" Morrisson.

Alan Reynolds---irreplaceable! God be with the days when he was winning everything in the middle of the park and Flynny was player of year, himself and Georgie were untouchable. Will we ever see his likes again?Sweeney,Nwanko,Gamble,Lopez...methinks not!

Some players are obviously better than others e.g John O Flynn ahead of Ginger Healy. But i remember many of Gingers goals at the X and he was one of my first City heroes.I will name a few that i thought were Citys best..

Deccie Daly,Johnny C,Patsy Freyne,Pat Morley,Paul Bannon,Gerry Mc Cabe,Dave Barry,Dave Hill,Stephen Napier,Colin T O Brien,Ollie Cahill,Georgie Callaghan,Flynny,Billy Woods(in his prime great player)..

Out of them all in my opinion i think Dave Hill was the best City player of all.If City were losing he would drag us back into the game almost on his own.In his prime he had it all.Passing,Vision and a huge heart..

Outside league of Ireland the best Cork player hands down is Roy Keane..

the difference of course being that morrison really is english and really is a useless ***** :) I have no problem with morrison being english, its the fact that he pretends to be irish in order to get caps that bugs me

Dave Wigginton - "Wiggy" - Cork Hibs in the 70's - a class act.

Not forgetting Miah Dennihey - [Cup final hat-trick for Hibs against Waterford].

or maybe .... George Best - played a few games for Cork Celtic. :)

...Dave Waters and Charlie McCarthy for Cork Untied in the 80's [average attendance at the box 62].

...more recently...Tommy Gaynor, Dave Barry, John Caulfield, Pat Morley and Biscuits for City.

..currently...Mick Devine....the rest....too early to tell ...

I must disagree.
He showed touches of the genius he possessed but all too infrequently for my liking. Never in the legend category.

1) Patsy
2) Dave Barry
3) Declan Hyde (himself and Dave Barry in the middle of the park were the best midfiled partnership City have ever had)
