Am I missing something? What could possibly be seen as controversial in that fairly bland interview....

You don't have to be controversial in order to cause upset here :)
Is it this bit? “The standard in the league (LOI) has dropped over the last couple of seasons,”

Which, of sorts, isn't really a lie. Finances are dire, teams are constantly cutting budgets, a couple of the better players have gone to England, crowds are poor. I think it's fair to admit the standard has dropped slightly over the past few seasons, but seems to be, that it's starting to pick up again thankfully.

Just as long as the LOI teams in European competition don't draw any of the Icelandic teams, otherwise they'll come a cropper.

I don't think anybody would deny that - or, rather, the overall quality of player has declined due to the numbers seeking financial stability abroad. I'd argue the quality of football being played has risen slightly since Fenlon stop coaching in the league, but that's another matter entirely.

Sorry G... I was joking. As Paul said, I was trying to demonstrate that you don't have to be too controversial to cause upset on here... (Love having to explain jokes! :D )

Nutsy sacked after losing (again) to Hearts. Are the FAI listening?
