Im going to do a presentation in college on the lack of support from the irish public for the league. So what im looking for is info on attendances over the last few years, why the thousands that went to poland dont support their own domestic league, reasons why people are put off the league, how it can be improved to attract new fans. And any other info you feel i could use. I appreciate any info given.

Everything else you asked would take longer to answer than I have, but there are attendance threads going back a good amount of years:

Well, the basic points are pretty obvious - lack of promotion from media/FAI, competition from English clubs, competition from other sports, an image people have of poor stadia and hooligan element, recession etc, etc. I suppose all you'd have to do is elaborate on those points.

yeah il just google a few things and see what comes up.. only has to be about 10mins so doesnt have to be too detailed.. thinking of doing a powerpoint display with a few pics like irish fans in poland and a few pics of half empty loi grounds etc

Well, i think you could focus on some positive in the LOI when referring to it, i always think it should be shown in a positive light. You could refer to the article that suggested that there was €15 million spent going to the UK each year and maybe speak about Irish Football fans have been disenfranchised by the governing body because there is no effort to bring them into the fold. I'd make the point that the FAI hold all the cards but they just dont know how to play, the Football System at every single level is fragmented and in disarray and its down to abject failure on the part of the FAI.

yeah trying to bring some of that into it now.. have a part in it about premiership players that played in the league here.. have a few pics of big crowds at games here.. have a little bit then about the progression of clubs in europe in the last few years.. coming together nicely now.. few of the guys in my class ask about the games so hopefully this could persuade them to give it a go

You could also make the point that if LOI clubs could double their attendances (which is not huge in the scheme of things) then the league would be in a much healthy state, and could result is sustainable jobs in the Irish sports industry.

Bull****ting does the job! :D

Have a bit showing the improvement of stadia, City Calling, Showgrounds, Tallaght. There are some brilliant stadia around with great facilities. And an honourable mention to VW's sponsorship.

Yeah good idea could throw in a few pics of the stadiums to show the facilities are improving
