View Full Version : Death of a true legend
Former Nottingham Forest and Derby County manager Brian Clough died in hospital earlier today, Derby City Hospital has said.
A hospital spokeswoman said the European Cup winner, who was 69, had been suffering from stomach cancer.
I will never forget when he hit a couple of lads a few slaps for invading the pitch, and the following day made them apologise :)

I am really saddened to hear of Brian Clough's passing. There are many people discribed as "legends" or "characters" in the football context, but few if any would stand comparision to this man. He wore his love of football on his chest and refused to compromise, under any pressure from whatever source, his strongly held views on the game and how it should be run.
A tremendous motivator who turned ordinary teams into European Champions and extraordinary big heads into very humble men.
It was his honesty and straight forwardness which meant he could never be considered for the job of England manager. After all it would never have done if spirit, commitment and courage were to be introduced into an English soccer team.
He gave me and countless others some of the best laughs and greatest moments in our televised viewing of the English game.
Yes Brian Clough was a LEGEND whose like was never seen before in football and most definitely will never be seen again. :ball: :ball: :ball:
