The idea that insurance companies are goinga round looking at football pitches is gas.
Dalymount was poor last season, but there's been worse before and there'll be worse again
The story is a nonsense

Agreed, if it was the case then most junior teams in the country wouldn't be allowed play football anymore.

Same thing, 2 different dates.

Jaysus... The story "broke" on the Rovers forum. In other words it is just more of the usual fantasy talk that goes on over in that part of t'internet...

To stir things, I know our LSC game there on Monday has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Awful early for that...
(It does sound like a nonsense story, though).

Our friendly against them which was originally scheduled for tomorrow in Dalymount has been moved to Blanchardstown IT on Saturday. Didn't hear of any particular reason.

How bad does a pitch have to be before an insurance company pulls the plug? Are there needles on the grass or something?

They said on their website something like it was "To protect the pitch from damage".

The weather has been very bad, and they had no money to pay anyone to look after it. Too much money is still going out of the game in the form of player wages and physio fees etc. Crazy that a number of players are getting 1k per week in the league of Ireland.

Bohs played Cobh in the 19's on Sunday in Dayler.
Would it not all be the 1 insurance??

If Terryland's pitch got insurance a few years back when it looked like a mountain range then I'm sure Dalymount is ok

The problem is down to unaccounted for water leaking from a pipe in Dalymount Lane according to my (water) source.

Sounds a logical reason for the problem anyway.

What's your beef with physio fees?

Back in the day a player got a sponge of water squeezed on an injury and told to run it off.
Now they get those fancy rubs, ice packs, scans, x-rays..... big girls blouses and it's all the physio's fault.

I am surprised Dalymount hasn't been condemned already. The place is a crumbling death trap. The School End will shut in the next year or so leaving just one side of the ground open.
The story is believable as they have cancelled two pre season friendlies on it.

Dozens of clubs have called off pre-season friendlies so far. That's irrelevent. They played an u19s game there last week

None of that has anything to do with being denied pitch insurance.
2 sides of the ground are in rag order, the pitch is in awful nick. Welcome to the league of Ireland.

Why will that end shut? By LOI standards it's in a decent enough state.
