Dear Mr. Lennox,
You must wonder what all the fuss is about!
One of your players started on the bench last night (for the first time this season, I think) and the team's performance was poor. This afternoon the Evening Echo prints a cheap headline over an article by a cheap writer.
This evening, the doom and gloom predictions rattle around the airwaves and on the internet.
You must have smiled when you saw the Echo online headline "Trouble for City as stars set to leave".
Because you know that newspapers are there to make money, and often do not allow facts to get in the way of a good story.
And because you know as well as most people that the present dip in the club's fortunes does not reflect the strengths within the club:
You have a pedigree manager and nearly a full squad of talented players.
There is a flock of talent coming up through the ranks.
You have the best fans in the country.
Apart from short term cash flow difficulties due to lack of recent home games, the club is in a healthy financial state.
This business with Georgie can be handled. He is passionate about his football, and that is good, because you can work with that. And so is Pat Dolan. And the same thing - success in the EL, is what both are after. So it should not be too difficult to sort things because the common ground is there.
Many people who know people in the playing and admin staff in CCFC (myself included) have heard about the camps, the low morale, and so forth. Show me any club worth its salt and I will show you the same.
However it appears recently that the differences off the pitch have affected players' performances, and team cohesion. This is not healthy, but, again, it can be sorted. Any good facilitator hired in for a day should be able to move on all the issues, if people want to resolve matters.
Although I am a fan of recent vintage (2000 onwards) I have a real wish for this club. I believe that you have the good will and backing of most supporters. From what I know, I do not believe that the departure of a high profile person from City will necessarily resolve much, and it is almost certainly not the only way forward.
With the right approach, you can end with a win-win situation, and than maybe we can get back to winning games.

Probably a good approach (depending on the company) but cant see it happening. One thing that is definitely needed is to step back and look at their behaviour, attitude and opinion and look at the results of this. Some of the players are forget the reason they are there, to win games. It isnt there to play games as some might think. If working as a team to win games is alien for some of them need to realise that they need to. But you need to be a bigger person to realise this !!

george is being an attention seeking idiot. enquires from nantes my arse. george wouldnt make it for a day in france. we played above ourselves in europe, dont forget that.
he's spouting the same crap as when he was "Dead set to move to shels" "they're going to double my money".
if theres any defense for george its that he's easily lead, and im sure splillane was doing his best to drag the worst out of george.

if he cant play for an english 2nd division team, what are a french premier division team going to do with him? this is a team that deals in millions.
if they did want george they probably just said "heres €10,000, can we have him for a while?"
george has a mouth as bad as joe gambles.

this is what a court would call, substantial evidence.
honestly, corner, leaving rhetoric and propaganda aside, do YOU think nantes would be interested in george?

. . . im sure splillane was doing his best to drag the worst out of george.
Journalists are encouraged to try this. The less honest ones use what they get and portray the situation as badly as they can, even if it means jazzing up the story a bit. Even if Georgie and Flynny said almost nothing to Spillane, you may be sure he milked the story as far as possible.

I don't think we did. we played to the level we all know that our team can play against. We have seen that level in patches in the league this season so to say something like that is ridiculous.
when? how many league games have we been really impressive? and not forgetiing this wasnt dublin city or waterford we were playing, it was swedish, dutch and french premier division teams.

georgie played excellent against nantes home and away.why wouldnt they be interested

I would.
we played above ourselves in europe, dont forget that
BTW how can a team play above themselves? How do you know nantes werent playing above themselves on the day you saw them ?
did we play above our selves six times in europe this season?
i suppose shels have played above themselves 8 times this season in europe as well!
or we've played 14 times above themselves combined!

We were impressive in away games to Shels, Bohs and Pats off the top of my head. As I said in patches through the season but we have seen what our team is capable of we performed to those high levels in Europe. If we played above ourselves against Nantes, we'd have beaten them.
if kev doyles header had gone in or fenn had finished, we'd have beaten them. and we'd still finish mid table, for all the world a run of the mill team forgotten by everybody except ourselves and our own delusions of grandeur.
the close season and some time apart from each other to get back to professionalism cant come soon enough for this team.

if my aunt had a pair of balls ,she would be my uncle
ifs and buts, they didnt go in, so dont argue that case
u could go through about 100 ifs and buts
if u count every if and but,we would have maximum points

did you actually read the rest of my post? thats the point i was making.
Teams put on exceptional performances some days, other days they are poor.
All that means is that the team does not play to the fullest extent of it's abilities every game. So, City DID NOT play above themselves in Europe, but they simply all displayed the talent and ability they have. They have this ability ALL the time, just do not manage to express it all the time.
So many of our players showed how good they could be, if the talent can be brought out consistently.
Do not belittle our club's performances with your condescening "played above themselves" and "delusions of grandeur" remarks.

Lennox is meant to be on Big Red bench tonight.
I hope he has a right go at that w4nker Spillane.

Yeah everyone should text in and ask Lennox if he's willing to tolerate Spillane's attempts to undermine Pat Dolan and spread negative rumours about our club.
Everyone also needs to text in and let Lennox know how important it is that both Dolan and Georgie remain at the club in the long term. Lennox listens to the fans, this is a chance for you to let him know how you feel. Text in sensible comments or questions but please don't start spouting rubbish like 'Dolan out' or 'we're better off without Georgie' etc. He's only going to take notice if you actually have something constructive to say.

couldnt have put it better myself
Lads, this whole thing is turning into a Spillane witchhunt and is in danger of missing the reall issue. Spillane did not make up the following:
George being dropped / made scapegoat
George's interview's on RedFM and Newstalk
George talking to Lennox and not Dolan about his concerns.
Fenn being subbed .
George and Kearney clashing and George/Fenn/Colin balling eachother out of it in recent games - indicators of discontent.
Hoggie being banished inspite of being fully fit.
Greg v Dolan.
Johnny getting his game inspite of indifferent (to say the least) performances
A domestic run of two wins in 10 including defeats to first division opposition in 2 cups and all the teams in the top four, scoring 7 goals in all those games.
Dolan's continued BS to the media.
IMO, Questions to Lennox need to be a lot more about the club than Spillane.

This talk on BRB is a media event. There is no better place than live media to deal with the issue of Spillane's fwckacting. The rest of the issues are not best analysed in public. If Lennox is as smart as I reckon he is, he will save his thoughts on these matters for the club room.

Please point out where it says anything about winning anything or progress in my post.
On this forum, if you post, at least try to follow the thread.
If you want to have a discussion about winning or progress please go ahead and start one.

on this forum kiss my arse. who o you think you are? it says nothing about progress or winning anything in your post and thats why i asked. our "performances" are a thin veil over the rest of the season. so they were able to motivate themselves to beat two teams, who were caught on the hop. if this disguises any of the rot that has set in, then its a burden rather than an achievement that we've managed to do that.
if i want your tips on how to work a forum, i'll ask, pat.
Strong words in the letter, but would you finish it "yours sincerely" or maybe "yours in sport"?
and the proof
The only proof that needs to be provided is that Nantes actually were interested.
and no George talking out his @rse does not constitute proof.

P.S. Mr Lennox,
Congratulations on the wording of your statement on the official club web site this evening. It makes all the right noises, without saying much. The low key tone of the statement suggests that you and the management of CCFC are not going to be panicked into doing anything rash.
Finally, I have a question. How much is the sponsorship from the Evening Echo worth? If you give it back, and shaft Spillane from having any contact with the players, I will personally start a collection to make it up to the club.
