Seeing his goals so far this season mostly have been tap ins but that's what we need - a player who gets in the right spot and takes the easy ones a la Lineker. Provided this continues he could become an option sooner rather than later.

Elliott's goal scoring record in underage international football speaks for itself, he is a natural goalscorer and he needs to be given a chance. Against the Faroes would be ideal.

I can't see there being any new faces in the squad until the 2005 friendlies.

Add another goal to the list, against Crewe in the Carling Cup tonight. He hit the crossbar too apparently. All this despite the fact he was only a sub for a mostly reserve Sunderland side.

If there were a few injuries to our strikers then he could come in to the squad but it would need to be an emergency for him to play a competitive game. I'm sure he will make his debut early 2005.

Elliott set up the only goal of the game (Leeds v Sunderland) last night. I can see Sunderland being promoted this season and all down to this young man. Elliott has started Sunderland's last 4 league games and they've won all 4. Previous to that they had only won 2 in 6. He came on in the 80th minute in the league cup in midweek when Sunderland were 2-1 down and they then scored 2 goals in those 10 minutes. He seems to have a bit of an influence. ;)
