Keith Andrews. Done.

McCarthy nominated despite playing only 5 games. 2 friendlies v Oman and Greece and qualifiers against Kazakhstan, Faroes and the hammering by Germany

Seems he's in because he wasn't part of Euros

Likewise, none of the Young Player nominees were part of the Euros squad

Andrews, not the best, more like the least worst

The inclusion of McCarthy is laughable.

Andrews fair enough, but even he wasn't the highest ranked Irish player in the UEFA Euro 2012 rankings.

On the subject of the Euros, I don't think we were as bad as people make out.

Yes we were.

McCarthy probably got the vote because of the second half against the Faroes, when he became the only Irish midfielder in the entire calendar year to consistently look for the ball and pass it accurately to a team-mate. Andrews got in there because he ran around a lot and kicked people. Doyle for scoring against Kazakhstan and Oman.

Who is going to win the prestigious "Best New Tattoo" Award?

International Goal of the Year:
Marc Wilson, Robbie Brady, Kevin Doyle

Wilson's nominated best goal was a shot going wide of the post, until it was deftly deflected into the net by a Faroese head.
A scientifically proven fact, from the camera angle behind the goal.

If there were two words I'd ban on forums, they would be "discuss" and "fact".

And not forgetting: "call", "him", "up" and "Trap".

Keith Andrews and Damien Duff were probably the only two Irish players to come out of the Euros with any kind of credit. It was an absolute shambles from start to finish and we were appalling. Yes, Spain are maybe the greatest international team of all team, Italy are very very good and the Croats are a team that are easily a top 6/top 8 team in world football in my opinion, but we were atrocious. However, lets be honest, Keith did very little of note bar give 100%. He was 6/10 or if I was generous maybe 6.5/10 in the tournament. Duffer was perhaps a 7.5/10 and probably deserves this award, but I guess they are reluctant to give it to a retired player.

Was thinking the same myself: the only meaningful award would be to Duff. Or to him and Given, for service. Giving the award to anyone based on this year's performances would be a travesty, would be better not to award it at all.
McCarthy did indeed boss the game for a half against plucky minnnows, fair enough, and nothing against Andrews and Doyle for their commitment every time they play. Andrews got stuck in in Poland, but was as ineffective as anyone else to be honest.

Anyone who knows anything about football, knows ...... the difference between fact (the Dublin one) and a well researched proven fact.

It would be easier to have a Worst of 2012 Awards, for the senior team.

A scientifically proven fact, from the camera angle behind the goal.I'd have gone for Andy Keogh's goal against Germany.

Who is making the decision for these nominations?

Andrews rightly in the 3 and will presumably win.
McCarthy has hardly played all year and although he has done alright in the games he was involved in has hardly excelled.
Doyle has been in brutal form most of the year.

My top 3 in order would be:
1. The Doc
2. Andrews
3. Duff

Isn't it a bit early to decide on '2013' ?

Or do these awards just have a silly name...
