I was down in our club shop today and heard the shocking news that Flancare informed the club today that they wished to pull out of the sponsorship deal. As a result all town home jerseys for last season is at half price.
This is a major blow to us as they were superb sponsors since this time twelve years ago. Hopefully we can attract a new sponsor and I hope our associate sponsor will be our new sponsor as there has being talk for a while.
Flancare were on the list of tax defaulters published last week and they have removed their signage over their premises in Longford. So I suppose it has being on the cards.
Please discuss this major bad news for the club.

What happens to the stadium name then? Strokestown Road Stadium?

Longfordian
21/12/2012, 7:16 PM
I think this has been on the cards for a while now. Certainly the club were expecting it a few weeks ago at the end of season dinner. I'd say Munnellys will take over as the main sponsor but not sure if they'll go for naming rights.

There goes the magical name Flansiro gone up in smoke!! Sad news alright but I would assume that Munnelly will take over the jersey sponsor. Ground will prob revert back to Mullollogher or Strokestown Road.

Would it be an awful idea to name the ground "The Flansiro"?

Wonder who coined the ground 'Flansiro'? Favourite ever ground nickname, without bias of course!

Ah you couldn't use it as an official name. It was a great nickname though and it'll be strange to call it anything else. Flancare, and particularly Michael Woodlock, deserve a lot of thanks for what they've done for the club over the years. Fantastic sponsors and it's a shame to lose them.

there were rumors about this since last year so its no surprise. Its horrible to see our 12 year partnership end and its been a wonderful partnership, lets just hope our next sponsor is as kind and loyal. it will always be the flansiro

I know that Flancare have changed the name of the holding company on their premises in Longford to another name so lets hope that all may not be lost yet.

That's who bought Flancare's assets when they were wound up last year alright. Could change the name to Total Football Park..

That will make them collectors items and should be snapped up,with the troubles Flancare are going through you'd have to say it's not a surprise, can't see anybody ever stopping using the Flansiro name.

It would explain why Jim Hanley said no comment when asked that Q in the Longford Leader this week. He said that they were discussing with sponsors . I would be 99% certain it has to be Munnellys...if that is the case it would be a huge coup.

I don't know the ins and outs of the situation, but surely it would be more desirable to announce sponsors sooner rather than later, in terms of selling gear etc.. And another thing, no sign of season tickets this year? Would have thought there would have been an uptake there around christmas if they were available..

Longfordian
13/01/2013, 4:12 PM
Just get the feeling there's changes happening behind the scenes this year. The sponsorship would be tied in with those changes I reckon. It's hard to sell season tickets when nobody has an idea how many teams will be in the division.

Personally I think our season ticket prices are too high (and i know I'm going off topic here) but when you consider some Premier teams offer tickets for less than 100 euro us charging 140 as per last season seems a lot.

I think certain clubs only do 100 euro tickets before Christmas as a deal.

There's very little Premier clubs you'll find doing season tickets for under 150 euro. Student tickets, yes. Adult tickets, no. They'd be making a massive loss on them at 100 euro considering the average adult entry price is about 13 euro in the Premier.

We have Terrace tickets in Thomond Park for €130 which is good value and we were €120 last season for Jackman Park.

that is what I heard too.. munnellys I believe are setting up a new co and will be one of the main sponsors. Heard too Flancare have pulled out alltogether whether that means Via Logistics who took over Flancare want to continue it is another story.

In fairness the club never gave a date for announcing anything that was Shannonside and now the Leader. This latest report is the first official comment from the club and they say it'll be announced soon. Relax.

Don't worry I am relaxed!! We just keep hearing stories, you'd think the club would come out and clarify the situation instead of letting the local paper and radio broadcast false information.

tbh I strongly disagree with ur assertion. When I heard the sad news about Sean Fallon's passing away from a Longford Leader journalist who I was friends with before he worked in the Longford Leader and am still am and he told me about that article about the impending sponsorship deal I wouldnt question his judgment as he rang someone on the Longford Board who shall remain nameless and is well respected in Longford who provided him with the update.
why do you think it is false anyway??

Bray's season tickets are €99. I think the logic is the money up front and guaranteed, whereas getting a punter through the gate every week isn't. What clubs have to weigh up is whether the extra sales from people who wouldn't go every week outweighs the losses from people who would.

New sponsor being announced at 12 tomorrow in The Gibson Hotel in Dublin. Munnellys I'd imagine. Nice to hear it's "significant".

Somewhere around there yeah. He's in waste management. Hopefully not in the way Tony Soprano was in waste management. I think he has a few other interests as well. A very wealthy man by all accounts. Apparently there's a few sponsors being announced tomorrow.
