View Full Version : 'Thanked' posts

I'm wondering if there is any way to keep a better / longer record of the posts I've 'thanked'.

if I go to the 'settings' page, I can see only the last 5 posts I've thanked, or 'given reputation' to, and even then, the link is to the first page of the thread, rather than to the post I've thanked (there is the same limit on posts of mine which have been thanked also).

I ask because I sometimes want to go back and quote a post I've thanked, and before a previous site upgrade, I think a record of all of them was available, but as far as i can see, not anymore.

Fraid not osarusan. The Thanks functionality comes from a plugin, so I don't think that option was ever available.

I assume therefore that there is no record of the most thanked post in the history of foot.ie ? That would be interesting.

Yeah, definitely mine. Logic suggests that anyway

Actually this (http://foot.ie/threads/120809-Most-Thanked-Post-Ever?p=1191122&viewfull=1#post1191122) was the most thanked post ever. You can tell because it says it in the title. You can't see the thanks though, due to the biggest piece of skulduggery on here since THIS (http://foot.ie/threads/81119-Dumbass/)

Well, that was a fine passing of 15 minutes..

I ended up rereading it as well. Several times it seems to lose its way and then erupts in another round of brilliance. We've lost a few good posters down the years though. May Nuggan have mercy on their souls.

Yeah, just imagine, if Dahamsta wasn't such an ass we'd still have all those fine souls knocking around.

Do you mean it was never possible to see all the posts you've thanked? It definitely was, and it is still possible on boards.ie. which uses the same version of VBulletin that foot.ie used to use, I think.

Definitely was. not that I was stroking my ego or anything....

I think you'll find it's "asshat". Is poor nigey-wigey upset over the infraction MariborKev gave him last week?

I didn't think so, but I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the feature tbh. I did look at the settings but maybe I missed something, I'll check again.

My apologies, asshat. I'm crying in my sleep.

Ok, the problem is that the mod author has disappeared (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=231666), and presumably - I don't have the time to dig through ~200 pages of posts to confirm - the stock version that hasn't been updated since 01/2010 doesn't support the current version of VB. Board still works because they run an older version of VB, and they've effectively forked from it at this stage so it'll stay that way. I can do 1 of 2 things now:

a) integrate a series of hacks into the current plugin, which may or may not last; or
b) start again with a new, active plugin.

Votes?

For the record, that's my preference too. I hate running deprecated software. But that being said, I haven't had a chance to look into the alternatives yet.

I'm voting No because you didn't call Nigel a dumbass.

And yes, I'm fully aware that wasn't an option.

There's only one person allowed to call me a dumbass and get away with it, and she's currently asleep upstairs.

I have no idea what we are voting for or against but if it means me losing all those thanks I've somehow acquired then its a "no, and you can fock off while you're at it" :D ;)

Stu, are you really that superficial that you feel you need to protect your 'thanks'? Isn't this site about sharing information, learning from each other and creating a sense of community as well as keeping his royal highness the Dahamsta in a job? I support whatever decision the great man makes! ;)
