... Lets Bottle Bohemia

Got this today and i'm very impressed. The standards haven't sliped from the fantastic first album, So Much For The City, and Let's Bottle Bohemia, is more of the saem but with a slightly darker feel.

A lot of the songs are about the band coping with being shot to fame so quickly, with songs like 'You can't fool old friends with limosines' hitting that home.

I'd recommend it highly. Any one else get?Post thoughts here...

I'm impressed. It's a short (just over the half hour) and punchy collection.

Apparently Saturday night is about the Brian Murphy case.

Ive not heard the full album, but if the current song which is on 2fm all day every day is anything to go by Ill be steering well away.

I bought "So much for the city" last year, and was totally dissapointed with it. The only good songs were the ones they released to the charts, the rest was muck.

I thought so too, they sound like a one trick pony to me.

I hate them with a passion. Can't understand how they made it so big so quick (would love to know who was behind that). Bunch of whiny, boring gits. Heard an interview with them on Gerry Ryan one morning, and trying to get coversation out of them was like getting blood from a stone. Gerry Ryan had to play 4 songs during the half hour interview he was getting so ****ed off with their boringness!

Overated. Overated. Overated. Borrowed their first album and the singles are great but that's all. Havent even thought of getting the second album, but if its anything like the first. Heard the single, its ok but who is Corey Haim?

but who is Corey Haim?

Apparently, he's like an 80's American TV star. The best comparison i could think of is if we were to sing about Hasselhoff or Noel Edmonds or someone.
I think there is a lot of hype about them, but they're better than ye give them credit for. At least they write and play their own music, unlike most 'pop' groups. Better than Br(y)ian McFadden anyway :)

Not a child of the 80s I take it Pauro? Ah, ye kids...

Corey was a Canadian actor who became the pinup idol for American girls (and quite a few European ones too) in the mid 80s - the typical teen sensation. He was in a few very popular films like the Lost Boys, along with side kick and friend Corey Feldman. Life went spiralling downwards after that - he developed a serious drug habit and more recently had a stroke.

Heh heh i was a child of the 80's, but would have been 9 then.. kinda the Macualey Culkin of the 80's so!

Why does any of this matter? The album's a real grower. Much more depth than the first one.

Aaaaah, that's all I needed first thing in the morning. An email telling me that a Thrills album has depth!! They are one of the most over-rated bands around at the moment, full of "cool" lyrics that teenage girls must love.

Man I hate them with a passion  ... but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it is wrong!

Why is being something "that teenage girls must love" such a bad thing?

At first I thought you meant "Irish" and was going to write "but the Strokes aren't Irish", then I realise you mean "rich"

What balls. Why should this totally arbitrary rule apply? It would rule out the Rolling Stones and The Clash, amongst others (probably many more others than generally believed), not to mention Public Enemy (middle class to a man) and John Lennon (from a well off background too).

Incidentally, David Elleray went to school with Nick "Topper" Headon, drummer for The Clash.
