You've been screwed for 30c.

Rovers U-21's boss is to take control. Have it for a good source. Besides why would Matthews go for that? They have a history, but we're the ones making it.

Undoubtedly one of the cheesiest lines ever written on this forum. :o

It's public knowledge that Noel Synnott, our U-21's manager, is taking over in the short term. I'd imagine that he will finish the season out before they find a full-time replacement. Cup exploits aside (and, let's face it, one real cup doesn't really count as an exploit), Longford's league form has gone to ****e and Matthews could well be getting itchy feet. Of course, it also helps that he's a born and bred Hoop. 'One club, he only loves one club...'

I'd be amazed if Matthews went to Rovers. Firstly he has it pretty handy at Longford and i'm sure that he'd know that if he went to Rovers and failed the abuse he would come in for. Secondly LTFC are a club moving forward where as Rovers have been in decline for the past few years ( like it or not that is the truth ) And finally but most importantly is that Rovers have no money and no ground and it appears that neither issue seems to be getting resolved. Whether Rovers fans like it or not their club is in a lot of trouble at the moment both on and off the pitch and there is no signs of it improving. You go around cap in hand each season looking for somewhere to play your home matches and your always on the verge of making a big announcement in the near future in regards to the ground but it never comes. The fact of the matter is that you can go on & on about history but Rovers are the 3rd or 4th club in Dublin and you are an average mid table side at best. Longford Town are a mid table team also but since we got promoted we have overtaken Rovers both on and off the pitch so i think if Matthews was to go to Rovers it would be a step backwards.

Trust me, we're well aware that we're in the shít. No one knows that more than us. But as one of our directors said to your chairman at the replay - "You're just a glorified junior club, always have been, always will be" :)

Anyway, Matthews may be a born and nred Hoop but his teams play awful, cynical cheating football.

with respect to rovers,i cant see the logic in this .
i could'nt see him being lured away right now,too many positives at town and the reverse at rovers.

That's sounds like a bit of sour grapes coming from from one of your directors how and ever he's as entitled to his opinion as much as anyone else. I gather from your opinion of matthews teams that you wouldn't be to pleased if he were to take over at Rovers.IMO if Rovers hold out until the end of the season before appointing a manager you'll probably end up with that muppet Roddy Collins arriving and then taking apart your club like he done at Carlisle & Dublin City. Incidently, i lived with a guy from Carlisle in Australia and he worked in the hotel where Collins & the team socialised and they also thought he was the biggest pr ick to walk the face of the earth.I personally think that no club in the EL should give him a job seen as he thinks he's to good for it.

Mathews was appproached yesterday but turned it down because he's happy where he is, he has an excellent relationship with the board and he feels the club is making good progress. He was a Rovers fan in his youth, a regular at Milltown and if you ever sorted yourselves out completely , got into tallaght, were successful it might be tempting but at the moment he's not interested. I believe he told whoever rang him he feels he has "the best job in Irish football" in as far as it suits him down to the ground. We've turned the corner this season and ye're the ones who's league form has gone to s***e..

The reason for Rovers demise is very clear now. When directors are of the calibre of the one quoted, the priority is not a new manager, nor is it new players, nor is it a new ground. Get rid of the fatheads who are on your board of directors or your club will find even greater depths to sink to.

It was in direct response to the childish behaviour of the Longford officials at the game in Flancare. Believe me, I don't make a habit of sticking up for our board but the attitude in Flancare would indeed be more suited to Junior football.

Be specific Rovers Fan! What exactly did our committee members do or say to trigger off the innane response from your dimwit director.

LTFC refused to give any ice to the Rovers physio and he had to get it from ther John's Ambulance people. As I said pathetic and childish. That and the fact that the programme was a bilingual anti-Rovers diatribe. It was so full of unsubstantiated anti-Rovers guff that you'd swear Max Power edited it.

Wouldnt it be up to Rovers' physio to ask the opposing physio not club officials, theres not bags and bags of ice lying around in Flancare on the off chance they're needed, the physios bring their own. Not club officials' fault if the physio doesnt have enough to spare..As for the programme the articles are from independent contributors not club officials, the worst comment I can recall was that Rovers have a minority of supporters who give trouble..hardly unsubstantiated diatribe, although I didnt bother reading the Irish piece :p Anyway we're not going to start another stupid thread about Rovers fans and how they're perceived.

Once again, if indeed any further proof were needed, this instance shows how disorganised Rovers are. Instead of giving off at Longford officials your Director should have given serious stick to your physio and bag man for not bringing basic supplies with them. Do you think that there is an icemaker in the Longford dressing room? Should Longford give their supply to Rovers and then hope they have no injuries themselves?
Get a life and, even more importantly, get new directors! :p

As Longfordian said there is no ice making facility in LTFC, also why did he ask committee members??? The rover’s physio never came near the town dressing room or even asked the LTFC physio for ice, if he had done we would have given him ice, like we've done before!
