Hi guys just throwing this out there
here is my two cents worth:

I would to see the following squad:
Left out are lads like Keane and O'Dea, Mc Geady because of distance
Also left out are the like of Andrews, Whelan etc because we know already all about these guys.
I would love to see the likes of Hoban (i know its early days) get a call up , just to show that we are watching younger players and they have a chance of a call up.
Naughton - I think we should just name him and see what the craic is there :O)

Westwood (needs game time)
Forde
Randolph

Wilson
O'Shea (Captain)
Pearce
White
Duffy
Coleman
Kelly
Hoban

Mc Cann ( scoring a lot lately and is a powerful/solid player)
Mc Clean
Hendrick
Holahan
Meyler
Mc Carthy

Doyle
Long
Collins
Murray
Hunt (id like to give him another try)

Looks good but I would never make O'Shea skipper. I'd pick Doyle off that list.

What's the significance of the players in bold? Some of the players are unavailable or haven't declared for Ireland, but the others are players who are likely to be in the squad, so I've no idea.

The significance of it is that those players were excluded from the OP's post. Who hasn't declared? Pilkington played U21 & Elliot played U19. Andy Reid was frozen out by Trapattoni but is playing good stuff now and it is also his responsibility to talk with Ireland again to see what the story is.

He's playing very well at LB for Spurs tonight. Whats the craic with his eligibility/desire to play for us?

He's eligible through a grandparent but has never publicly stated a desire to declare as far as I know. He played for the England U21s a few years ago but hasn't had a sniff since.

I can't believe anyone think's that it's the manager's responsibility to talk to Ireland again, or even wants him to. He doesn't want to play for us. Let's move on ffs.

I would like a look at Aidy White and another look at Liam Lawrence. No point in the mls guys travelling. I would politely explain to O'Shea & Ward that they are still part of the plan, but that i am giving Duffy & White a chance to be part of the squad for the friendly.

Assuming everyone fit and no suspensions...

Westwood
Forde
Randolph
Wilson
White
Dunne
Sledge
Duffy
Clark
Coleman
Kelly
Whelan
Meyler
McCarthy
Andrews
McGeady
Brady
McClean
Lawrence
Doyle
Long
Walters
Cox

Though if I was picking the first thing I would do would be get on the phone to Gibson.

I think if White was called up it would be as a winger. I don't think Leeds even play him as a full back.

Ordinarily I would agree, but we have so little cover in this position we have to try someone

Wilson, Ward and O'Shea should be enough, no? Cunningham will be back in a few months and Nolan is still around. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see White get a call-up and played there but I don't think it's an emergency.

Ward is terrible, and if O'Shea hasn't got the legs to play right back any more, he's going to have exactly the same problem at left back. Nolan is less of a left back than White.

I take your point on Cunningham, I would call up him or White, but if he isn't available it becomes a straightforward pick for me.

It goes back to the Staunton days. I had a different handle before that but I can't even remember what it was

I'm only getting up out of bed now.

:D The significance was that it was late in the night and my brain should have been anything but active, yet it was sharp enough to actually realise the real handle - considering I'd seen it 900 odd times before and never noticed it was quite strange that I would notice it after such a long day. Not that I was trying to point out that I was only leaving work now ;) But don't worry I got your post.

Ya, I had my Eureka moment then too, backToWalsall !

I suppose Greece have a standard that we can only aspire towards, good technical players, well organized and an inspiring leader in talented midfielder Karagounis, though he's just used as a sub these days.
They had a very tidy Euro qualification campaign where they topped their group and some decent performances at the Euros.
I want to see how Trap approaches this game and who he picks to play of course.
Just bringing in new names won't raise my spirits so much as concrete steps to move away from the plan A.
As it stands now, a comfortable game for Greece, winning 2-0

I'm guessing O'Dea will be called in as Toronto's season finishes this weekend.
LA Galaxy have made the MLS playoffs but they may be knocked out by the Greece game so Keane may be involved.
