Ye linked with Daryl Kavanagh?

Rumours about that Shane Duggan is on his way to us but I thought he still had a year to go with yourselves?

no, Sligo are.

Duggy has a contract i believe, not 100% on that mind

edit: were playing Pats. We've not been linked with anyone, not even our own players. Only rumour here is that Kevin Murray seems to have won the captains armband

From what I can remember he signed a two year contract when ye got promoted cause at the time I was thinking it would have been great if we got him.

As a player? He was coaching in Limerick wasn't he? I dunno will he be any good (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominic_Foley) at this stage? Doubt he has pace to burn any more. I just remember him not celebrating goals when he was with Bohs, cant remember him banging them in either, not a 20 goals a season player i wouldn't have thought.

For his age he isn't that slow. He seems super fit which helps and he can win a lot of ball in the air. I would like to see us keep onto him for another season. I think he might have a bit to offer in the premier. He was supposed to be a player/coach with us but it seemed like he was just a player to me.

I dunno would he get his game with us, given that Keigan Parker barely got a look in. Well, just a rumour still anyway.

Foley is OK, but injury prone and seemingly not up for the full 90 minutes anymore. Has had his share of bad misses in the later part of the season.

Foley wants to sign with someone to do his badges and play a bit too.... He has been injured once i think with us but it was a bad one so wouldn't call him injury prone.

I would say he would be happy to be a coach with ye and just be on the bench he wants his badges more then anything is great with young lads according to a few of ours. No hope of him being with us if Pat Scully is still there.

He'd be a good body to have around.

Excellent attitude and you're not exactly blessed with attacking talent down there.

Could do a serious job with a young lad playing off him imo, wanted to see Foley - Gaffney all season, never quite happened.

Paudie Quinn was down on the bench for ye in a friendly and then in the following league game. Thought ye took him on loan.

It was Stephen Quinns brother ye got from Monaghan.

I assume that Limerick are going to be bringing in quite a few players; are all of the above deemed surplus to requirements or what?

I expect us to struggle to attract players with Limerick offering better wages tbh.

You're deluded if you think Limerick will be offering better wages than Cork.

The most attractive thing about Limerick wages at the moment is the ability to pay them.

Are you for real?
Even after a woeful season, the Hoops are still be a bigger draw than most and with the apparant clear-out on the way, there's a multitude of players who would gladly want to be part of a resurgent Rovers team.
Believe me, there'll be no shortage of options for a new gaffer.

There's plenty of Dublin lads around the country who would happily join Rovers if it gets them closer to home - even if Hooperman is manager next season.

Finn and Kilduff are the only players contracted past November, as far as I know. Finn until 2014, Killer until the end of next season.

edit: both until the end of 2014 actually

Think its 10 in total including mcCabe, Dennehy and a number of young lads like Pieterese and Shannon

I take it the players they mention getting contract offers on Monday could well have plenty of offers on the table already?

I thought Sligo would have tied down the key players at least and worry about building a squad around that.

I'd be surprised if we weren't sniffing around Lee Lynch in some way.

I'd be surprised if players who have just won a league weren't angling for a better deal, whether with us or elsewhere. We've about eight or nine players nailed down. Lynch to Limerick is one that had occurred to me - it'd be very tempting if he was offered the right terms. If we lose him, Quigley, Jay and Rogers it would mean largely rebuilding the spine of the team, but if they're gone soon I'd have every confidence in our committee, Baraclough and scouts having rebuilt in plenty of time for next season. We might not be that attractive a proposition for Dublin lads who get bored down the country and would rather be closer to home, but for young talented players trying to make a step up, there's a lovely pitch, big crowds, at least a couple of CL games and a top-notch manager whose presence means you'll be attracting attention from across the pond.

Should be pointed out that Quigley, McGuinness, O'Connor and Finn all spoke at the launch of the PFAI awards. They're all featured in various papers today and even Finn on a 3 year deal mentions being on the dole on Monday. So I don't think the 3 players here out of contract will have any shortage of offers, its more being used a vehicle to push the PFAI's point about instability in the league

Its a fair point, but I've no doubt whatsoever that McGuinness and Quigley would move to Rovers for an extra €100 a week. Loyalty and respect only seems to go one way with the PFAI
