Seems like Alan Cawley is as bad at selecting his Team of the Year as he was as a player. It bugs me when people pick a team of the year and play with 3 strikers just because they can't decide which one not to include, no club in the league plays with 3 strikers. Sure why not play two right backs and even two keepers.

The better teams in the league are all playing 433/451.
Last year's PFAI team had four strikes (Kavanagh, Quigley, Doyle and Zayed). Think they nominally called Kavanagh a midfielder. This year for example most here have picked Sean O'Connor in their teams. He could be a midfielder or an attacker and if he receives votes in both, you'd like to think the PFAI would combine them and shoe horn him in somewhere
Even with Cawley's team Fabio has played wide right more than he's played upfront. Quigley spent the first haf of the season playing wide or in midfield with north on his own up front
Don't think its a huge deal
Not true.
quigley spent he first half of the season suspended and injured or dropped to the bench. The times he did play with North he played as a striker albeit behind North but a striker none the less.
If he played wide it was only for very short spells during one or two games.

Quigley was suspened for the first six games of the season and when he came back he found it hard to break into what was now a winning team. He was on the bench a lot making substitute apperaences. He only got a real chance and a meaningful run in the team when North got injured (which he took very well in fairness). If North hadn't got injured it's likely he wouldnt have got a real chance at all.

You'd know better than i would. Few times I saw him play early on he was wide. Admittedly not much

Danny North (Sligo Rovers)
Danny’s 1st team appearance. He’s the first Englishman to appear in the team since Sligo’s Adam Hughes in 2007
The Australian Adam Hughes?

Who do you all reckon will be player of the year?Has to be Jason McGuinness for me.Quigley was brilliant for 2nd half of the season but McGuiness has been outstanding all year.Nearly every week you could say he's been a contender for man of the match,he's shown great consistency.Maybe im being biased towards Sligo Rovers players but I think he's the stand out candidate?

Ronan Finn is the player who has impressed me most this season. But I've only seen him maybe 4 or 5 times, and McGuinness 3 or 4 between live and tv games.

I was talking Finn up a lot last season but didn't get a real run of games but this season was easily Rovers' best player.
PotY has to be McGuinness.
Drogs should feel hard done by but probably was more a team effort. Didn't see them often enough to be sure but I'd be guessing Sava, Prendergast and Gavin Brennan were their best performers.
Other notables
Marty Waters and Dave McMillan (look at UCD's record since he came back)
Gary Rogers was the same. On the 2001/02 First team of the year, and the 2012 Premier team of the year. Nothing in between
I don't have stats pre 2000 but I can't imagine there'd be too many more like that.
(If anyone has the pre 2000 teams let me know)

Oh, duh, of course. I doubt he'd go there unless he got an amazing offer that couldn't be matched here.

Linked with Dundalk..he's on the PFAI list so hes game..

COnsidering he's leaving Sligo to be closer to home (and had previously refused a move to Doncaster for similar reasons), I think we can safely rule out Dallas

I read a quote from him a couple of weeks back where he said he wants to be closer to home but if the offer was right he'd go to Dallas, which is fair enough I suppose.

Absolutely. I happen to think the Dallas thing is no more than a bargaining tool. Not that the offer isn't real (clearly I've no reason to doubt him), but that he has no intention of leaving Ireland
