View Full Version : Cup Semi-Final day Oct 7th

Derry V Shelbourne (http://www.extratime.ie/fixtures/detail/18798/0/)
Dundalk V St Pats (http://www.extratime.ie/fixtures/detail/18799/0/)

Both games to be televised I think.

Hard to call the first game, Derry have been all over the shop lately but you would have to think that home advantage should swing it. What's the injury news? Is Macca fit? Patterson? Greacon?

Second game has to be nailed on Pats win.

Im going for a Muckers-Pats final.

6/1 to win today. After the 'performances' we have been putting in recently, we should be 60/1. Ah well, just about to head off to Dundalk. Come on the town.

I've got Pats backed (-1).

Predict a Shels-Pats final. Hope it's Derry-Pats though for the sake of the crowd.

Put a whopping €1.35 on Faherty to score first and Pats to win 2-0. Might put a bet on the other game, have a sneaky feeling for Shels. Mathews has a great record in the cup.

Edit: Gone with Shels Draw No Bet

I see RTÉ's stream is island-of-Ireland-only. Anyone aware of any other streams?

Lads, I'm in England and have just realised that the games are not on the RTE player. Anybody got any idea where I could watch Derry-Shels online?

I want a Shels-Dundalk final just because I think that's more winnable. However... if we beat Pat's in the final, as unlikely as that may be, that would make me oh so happy!

It should be live on www.aertv.ie as well if ya proxy that bad boy

Cheers Nigel, is it reliable do ya reckon? Be absolutely gutted if I missed it.

Can only see this game going one way from here.

RTÉ's stream works outside of Ireland here: http://www.rte.ie/player/gb/live/10/

No idea why Greacan's goal was disallowed. Greacan's arm was out - fair enough - but it posed no impediment to Bennion, despite the imaginary facial pain he seemed to be experiencing afterwards.

Anyway, 1-1 now!

well he handled the ball before it went in! thats after the foul

The foul was against McDaid, he ran straight into Bennion.

Think we've blown it - a draw was a fair result over the 90, considering we didn't bother showing up in the first half. Having said that we've regularly been better away from the Brandy this year. But none too optimistic.

Easy win for us today despite being fairly poor. I'm hoping for a Derry win on Wednesday because they are an awful side, probably the second worst side in the premier division after Dundalk. This should be our year tho.

Poor game in the randywell yesterday.

Why the fook we reverted to hoofing after clearly displaying we were better with the ball on the ground, I will never know.

Draw was fair I guess but I feel its advantage Shels now.

Shouldn't that be "This should be our year tho" (take 51) ?;) PS you should know that Pats fans must always be pessimistic about the FAI Cup, no matter who you are playing.

I'm trying a new tactic this year, be ridiculously over confident going into each game. It's worked well so far. saints to win 4-0 :)

Seriously most Pats fan realise most years it isn't. We've had the best team in the league 5 times in the past 23 years though and none of them have won a cup. In the finals we've played we've been the favourite only twice (96 and 2003) and even then not by much. This final is clearly our best chance

But you're right we've no real chance... :)

Funny enough most seasons I generally hope Pats win the Cup (once Bohs exit) if for no other reason than to end the long wait. Unfortunately this year that is, of course, tempered by the realisation a Pats win will get shams into europe

So you should hope for Pats to win the double then, which would mean 4th loses out and Derry gets the spot :D

I deliberately missed out on both games on Sunday hoping they would actually be shown on RTE Player and I could sit down and watch both games through the week. Disappointed to find they are not on. Not sure if they are on at home and available on Player in Ireland.

If anybody knew where the games might be available from it would be really appreciated.

Derek Foran was not very happy after Dundalk's loss to St.Pats on Sunday. If only we had a team full of lads with the attitude that he has.

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat following the loss to St.Patricks Athletic he said the defeat was :

EMBARRASSING, sickening and inexcusable.

Could live with that, Dodge :o as long as tghe pats fans I know dont let it go to their heads ! (Pats fans - like Bohs - have that wonderfull "glass is half empty" view of football and it would be a shame to lose it.)

How much of an effect (if any) will it have that Derry have the final round of games free in the league? And will that be a positive or negative factor for them? Any thoughts?
