anys refs out there,
i need an official ruling on this.
if say, your name is "joe whatever" and the ball is comming your way and you want to tell a team mate to leave the ball to you (in the earshot of the ref).
you obviously cant shout "leave it" or "my ball" but can you LEGALLY say
"joeys" or "joeys ball" without being penalised ?. :ball:

I'm not a ref but I play football and I've never been penalised for saying "drinkfeckarse's ball" :p . Think it's a stupid rule anyway, what difference is it if you say "my ball" anyway. You're not fouling anyone.

with all due respect,
i'd say if any ref heard you say it he would be in no state to blow his whistle :D

Fair point :D but to keep it simple, all my life I've seen refs penalise people for saying "my ball" or "leave it" but I've never seen a ref penalise anyone for saying i.e. "joey's ball".

No, as it could easily be someone from the oppsing team saying "MY BALL". I know from when i used play ball, if a guy shouted "MINE" or similar, he was penalised everytime.

The laws of the game say, "Any simulating action anywhere on the field, which is intended to deceive the referee, must be sanctioned as unsporting behaviour". Which gets a caution.
Shouting 'my ball', 'Lopez's' or whatever in the heat of the moment isn't usually simulated nor unsporting. Usually, as a referee, I'd ignore it.
