Report in The Star today that Shels have sign former Reggiana and Dundee player Juan Sara. I looked up his stats on www.footymad.net and got the following:

Juan Sara (Reggiana) Information
Date of birth 13 October 1978
Place of birth Argentina

Recent Career History By Club (1999 onwards)

Team Debut Apps (+sub) Goals Yellows Reds
Dundee 14/08/2003 6 (9) 1 2 0
Coventry 11/01/2003 1 (3) 1 0 0
Dundee 29/07/2000 68 (20) 33 10 1

Total Appearances 75 (+ 32 as sub); Goals 35; Yellow cards 12; Red cards 1

Looks like an excellent player to me, his goal ratio is very good. :D

very good signing ! Fair play.
Seen him play a few times in the SPL and always looked quite dangerous, he should have no bother taking Fitzpatricks place in the Shels first X1

when he was on loan at coventry he was a good all rounder. also he'll fit in well in the country as he's a devout catholic

In his first season with Dundee he scored 17 league goals and was second highest scorer in the SPL. Doing that with a non Old Firm side is some achievement. I found a Dundee forum and did a search for Sara and he was named in many peoples "best Dundee XI of recent years" in a few threads they did and most of the fans wanted to try and sign him back. Overall, they loved him there basically. This could be an amazing signing.

Sounds like quality signing. Best form does seem to be a few years ago but will offer good options to Fenlon...

There's no reason why he can't show his best form now, he's only 25 I think.

Looks like the CL money is making an impression already? Moore, Ndo and Sara are surely three of the best signings made by the league, and all with the one club is scary.

Will Alan Cawley be staying on after the season, do you reckon? Hardly gets his game now, and with all these signings, he'll be relegated further by the looks of it.

It depends on if he's happy sitting on the bench or not I suppose. I really can't see him getting into the side on a regular basis with Ndo there.

It must be an Argentine thing. I remember their keeper from the 1998 world cup, Roa. He was a great keeper but before the turn of the millenium he gave up football to go and prepare for the end of the world, according to his religious beliefs. He eventually reappeared a while later when he realised that the world was still there and tried to get back into football, I'm not sure what happend him in the end.

Maybe he was impressed with ther Mad Priests antics in Greece & decided Ireland was the (mad) place for him...?

he'll be something of a rarity in the el a striker with pace and a good shot on him.

Just read that he was the third highest scorer in paraguay in the season before Dundee signed him. Not bad.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/world/players/47094/

He went to Reggiana AFTER being at Dundee, so that was his last club before Shels! He was under contract there from last January until 2006 so I don't know what the story is.

So true :)

Quote: will he be able to play in the uefa cup game?

I think Shels will be allowed to register him for the UEFA but I'm not sure.

His first club Alte Brown is named after the founder of the Argentine Navy. He was from Swinford. Doesn't mean anything, just a piece of trivia.

Has he played yet? Haven't heard anything of him...

No, we wont be seing very much of him until next year apparently. He's played for the U21s but is carrying an arm injury, I think, and is really really short of full match fitness.
