I know the Shams game will be great .... but Derry game is live one Network 2, will there be a good effort made for the cameras.
With summer soccer on the cards and City crying out for coverage all along (This i would imagine is the only game leeside to be on the box this year) wouldn't it be good to let them know what they might get next time.
Will the carnival come to town for the Derry game or not ??
I hope it will. You're dead right, with the RTE cameras there and a probable full house on the day, it is a perfect oppurtunity for City fans to put on a show.
I'm planning on bringing streamers and confetti for the Shed. I reckon the Argentina style streamer/confetti reception looks brilliant.
The more flares and flags the better too...
C'mon Sheddies!
true. i remeber being told that the cross looked great when the crowd was massive for the city v pats game in 1999. i reckon there must have been 10,000 at it.
of course city blew the game and the legue. i was sick for weeks afterwards :-(
anyway let's hope the crowds come out in decent number for the derry and shams games

Never mind putting on a show for the RTE cameras, why don't we start this Sunday against UCD? Just cause it isn't on the telly doesn't make it any less important.
Good point Ruairi. Ideally it would happen every week! But Faces point was to try and promote the League as a whole by putting on a show for the cameras.
Is it too early to start a Santa hat craze?!

Lets not fool ourselves lads, There probably won't be a full house at the Derry game. Remember there was barely 2,000 at the last home game against Galway. Its vital that there a good atmosphere at the Rovers game to bring people back for the Derry game.
snatch you are probably right. but we live in hope.....

If we beat UCD and Monaghan Utd. in our next 2 league games we will probably be top of the league, so I would say there will be 6,000 at the Derry game (which is almost a full house these days)

I don't think the Cross would be full but there might be a good crowd considering the day and the team. I know that a number of Derry fans will be travelling down as well and if we got all the flags and voices (seemed to have been misplaced against Galway) out it could be a good atmosphere. Despite what anyone says a good crowd will always get the players going, as the second half against Rovers in Cork proved.

The quality of football and entertainment at the Rovers game will be a crucial factor in boosting attendences for the remainder of the season.

Actually, getting back to the City - Derry match, can anyone actually remember a good game between them and us? The last one I can remember was the cup tie in 98 at the cross , but more recently I remember a hell of a lot of 1-0's to Derry since, and they've all been stinkers. I wonder if RTE were doing their homework and chose to televise this game on the assumption that it would be of low entertainment value, therefore adding credence to their "policy" of not televising games outside of the pale and between non-pale teams?

I hate to sound pessimistic again but even if theres a big crowd we need the Shed to be full to get the good auld atmosphere back. Do members think that the Shed will be full?

The roof on the Derrynane side seems to have attracted some people from the Shed over there, but I'd say the Shed will be close to full on that day.
A lot also depends on the weather.
we can make it happen. There should be a good crowd (particularly if results go our way in the meantime) Lets make it an unforgettable day! Sheddies show your colours! :D
Indeed the flags in the recent Pats match brough a bit of extra athmospher to the occasion. Why not have them at every match? Also the Sunday Tribune will get some bit of eircom League action this Sunday, it makes good confetti.
