Not sure if there has been any official confirmation of this yet from Umbro or the FAI - I certainly haven't seen it if there is - but according to a poster on YBIG, this is our new home jersey to be released for sale on the 5th of October:

Assuming this isn't a bluff, by then, we'll have had the current jersey for a grand total of thirteen months. It was first worn during the friendly against Croatia at home in August of 2011. What ever happened to jerseys lasting two years?

Its the collar I can't stand. It's like halfway in between a collar and not a collar.

Fairly uninspiring. Happy enough with the current pinstripe iteration anyway, will be sticking with that for a couple more years.

What's the issue with changing the jersey? They can change it every month for all I care.

Indeed, they can change it whenever they like and, ultimately, the choice of whether or not to buy a new jersey is solely ours, but supporters would probably feel a bit less like mugs if they were informed of a jersey's lifespan before buying it. Convention had me thinking the current jersey may last 24 months, but unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the case. Ah well...

Now you know how Stephen Ward feels several times during every Ireland game.

I'd believe it if you told me Ward bought his jersey off the internet as well!

He did. That's how he got in the team.

As I despise the current bananas in pyjamas effort which seems to cast a glad eye backwards to the glory days of Brian Hamiltons Northern Ireland teams - I can only call this effort an improvement. Collar/non collar is crap though. What part of plain (no patterns) white (no orange, navy, black, grey or alternate shades of green trim neccessary) roundneck is so hard to comprehend?

I'd like a jersey to be current for longer than a few months when it costs well over a hundred dollars here in North America.

Except you can now buy far cheaper anyway online.

And unless you use it to play in, why would anyone wear a football shirt anyway...

I reckon the current white away jersery will soon be consigned to the dustbin what with EURO2012 and all that ....

Nice shirt to add to my collection, there's a sneak preview on the FAI Facebook/Twitter page so I'm told.
Will look good in Brazil!

3, umbro and the FAI all posted this image online: https://twitter.com/FAIreland/status/249079770262958080/photo/1
So I guess it'll be officially announced or unveiled on the 5th?

Couldnt agree more
It's a sh!te jersey.
In fact I think it's the main reason we were so poor in Euro 2012!!!!
Always reminds me of the North's jersey in early 90s

You'll have quite a lot of these jumpers in your collection before Brazil, Sean!

Same template as Sweden's shirt. Want to see what's going on under those arms though. I like it.

Now to wait til there's a couple of sponsor-free ones floating about.

With Nike selling Umbro I was wondering what was gonna happen with us. England have moved to Nike from 2014. NI are now with Adidas.

I would love us to end up with Puma. one day... sigh.

BS, where exactly might one actually find a sponsorless jersey floating about? Have only seen them pop up a very odd time on Ebay. Would love one. I hate the giant sponsor with a passion beyond words!!:angry3:

There are ways and means. You gotta keep your ear to the ground. I bagged this one with no sponsor. Was wearing it in Poznan. ;)

My mate picked it up in a soccer shop in London. Can't remember where but I was alerted to it here from a thread in the Fans Forum.
I'll keep an eye out. What size are ya?

I haven't cared about having "the latest" jersey for any team since about 1992, when I was 10 years old. If you're already steeling yourself to have to shell out a hundred dollars on this new shirt because it's new and the most current, then I would suggest that that's all a little silly.

But that's just my opinion. Would love to know the reasoning behind why some people get annoyed with Ireland changing shirts every year. If I see someone on the street in an Ireland shirt, I'd be more impressed the older the shirt is, rather than how new it is. And I can't see how anyone would bother building a collection these days, seeing as they're produced in such bulk and available on Ebay in the coming years for a fraction of the current cost.

And if anyone uses the "kids asking for the new shirt" reason, it's them that deserve the clip on the ear, not their offspring. :)

I thought Bonnie was wearing a Tarmonbarry Hibs shirt in Poznan. Or was it Tarmonbarry Alberts? Good t-shirts.

Was it photographed with Kevin Kilbane?

Damn it, I got done!

Wets face it all these shirts only cost a few Euro to make, might as well pick up a green t-shirt from Primark for £5 and
write Ireland on it with a big marker pen!!! That is pretty much what they did with Richard Dunne when he ripped his shirt
in one match. I mean if the FAI can't be arsed to pay for a shirt why expect the fans too!!!

Err.... I think Eircom *might* be sponsoring that one ;)

Anyway I suppose the good news is if Ireland continue to play as they did in the Euro's the next shirt might be a sponserless one as
nobody would want to be associated with the team!!

I think the new shirt is OK, it does not look so obviously like a football shirt though but maybe it would more wearable
outside of football events, they all tend to be spoiled by the sponsers logo though.
