Got a new nokia 7200 phone. Its ugly, but christ does it have some gadgets, digital camera, camcorder, online facilities, microwave, dishwasher, but its one ugly phone. It has a beige check carpet covering that slides on and off. If I can't get a plain dark coloured slide on/off cover then I gotta get rid of it 'cos its hideous.
I had a 7250i before that and that was cool...maybe I should have stuck with it.Worst one I ever had was a samsung flipfone thing that was pure crap.

Make sure you Recycle yer old handsets.
These boys (http://www.mobilephonefixers.com/) can help ya on this one AFAIK. Bound to be loads of them around.
Had a few different makes of phone but Nokia software are the best so i'll go with them from now on. The novelity of gadgets and stuff on other phones doesnt last long so prefer having a phone that is easy to use.

look at most nokia phones these days, look different but damn all difference between them.....thats why they are losing market share in europe, they were knocked off the top of the sales chart by sony eric.....sagamm were third and gaining ground fast.
i like my phone, its an office in my pocket, recieves e mail, sends it, surf the net, is a camcorder, an mp3 player, can watch full length films, the list goes on.....but most important it is a diary so all my gig details are in my pocket if i need it.

I agree with you, and my fone is the same. I think though that Nokia are losing market share because the majority of fone users these days are 12-17 year olds who won't use something conventional, but something flashy or colourful

no nokia software is boring and never changes, which is ok for the older sector of society.....i almost always had their products, i currently have a 6230 also, which is billed to be as good as the p900...ha ha not a chance, nokia have to go back to the drawing board before they are left behind for good.

That p900 looks a bit, well....horrible, and has one of those little flip down speakers which are so easy to break.....I'll stick with my 7200

the flip comes off, i don't use it. the phone is totally touch screen and is great for watching videos, i have 2 full fulls on it at the mo. it also has a flight mode where the phone can be turned off but all other functions can be used on a plane, games, video, mp3 etc.

I know Nokia lost market share from 35 to 30% but i;d be very surprised if the off worldwide top spot as last i'd seen 2nd place was half their share...

I think you'll find that vodafone teaming up with Sharp to make phones exclusively for them is what has had the biggest impact on market share controlled by Nokia. Vodafone had a huge push on the "Live!" phones with the various Sharp models leading their drive. The reason Nokia were so domiant was because of their bulk buy deals with the network. Not because their phones were any good. They produced poor quality phones and flooded the market with them.
You can't beat the Japanese when it comes to electronics and especially mobile phone technology.
They're currently develpoing 4G technology in partnership with South Korea. We don't even have 3G available to private customers in Ireland.
Panasonic make fantastic GSM phones with LG and NEC leading the way in the G3 sector. With Samsung making great progress in the PDA type phone sector.
I can't wait for the Panasonic X700 to be released over here.
It's my next phone without a doubt.

This Samsung phone (http://www.samsung.com/Products/MobilePhone/SPH/MobilePhone_SPH_SPH_I700.asp) should be right up your street then.
Personally though, I don't want all that from a phone.
The X700 (http://203.163.64.107/panasonic/admin/upload/Content/1271_X700.bmp) is all that I need from a phone.

Jeez thats all we need Microsoft s/w on phones now
Might be different if needed for work but all i need from a phone is to receive & make calls & texts plus store numbers.

I'm quite happy with my Nokia 3100. I don't like a phone to be too complicated...tis a nightmare once the drink and parazone stats to kick in...
