I've been to Copenhagen, but not Vienna. I can't say I'd have much interest in seeing Vienna, but it would depend what you're looking for. My experience of Austrians is that they are reserved to the point of tedious (and that's not to even mention Messrs Fritzl and Hitler). There are plenty of sights in Copenhagen, good nightlife, atmosphere and culture in my opinion.
I don't think you could describe Hitler as being reserved to the point of being tedious.

Been twice to Copenhagen, okay but found it a little limited. Vienna has alot more to see, do and the nightlife is fantastic, and not expensive. You can nab a decent place to sleep close to the centre and the public transport lets you hop around easily. For sightseeing I'd go 100% for Vienna, for nightlife it's 50-50 with there and Copenhagen, for price I'd go for Vienna. For "sights" I'd go for Vienna too :-)
I loved Vienna. Spent 3 weeks there a good few years ago. Fell in love with the city. The local wine bars are fantastic, called heurigers. So much cultural stuff to see and do there even if youre not particularly into that. Would recommend the day trip down the Danube to Bratislava. And the Schonnbrunn Palace is simply immense.
I've never been to Copenhagen. I don't like Danes.
Thanks for the feedback folks, all good stuff.
did a little further research and i think Vienna has won out

I'm off to Germany tomorrow followed by a marathon in Lucerne and then on to Salzburg and Vienna. Looking forward to seeing Vienna. All I've got so far is it's not a particularly friendly city but I'll reserve judgement until I get there. Really looking forward to seeing the place. Aer Lingus flights back into Dublin afterward.
As for Mr A's comments. Classic.
