With our luck they will dominate only further confusing the situation.

Not too sure about that, on the other hand it could burst a few people
bubbles about the alternatives we have available, we will just have to wait and see,

They are fifa ranked 93.

Anyone old enough to remember "Microprose Soccer" on the Commodore 64???? :D

Oman were the handy team to get. They were regularly on the wrong end of double figure defeats.

Yes I used to play that for hours in the late 80's , where you looked at the players from above and only saw the tops of their heads and their feet and you could do a 100m slide tackle when the pitch was wet :p

Guys, anyone know if this is going to be viewable anywhere tomorrow. Not sure i can handle staying up till 4:30am for a friendly, but really want to watch all the new lads in action. Anyone planning to record it?

Are you sure that wasn't Kick-Off/Kick-Off 2?

The bookies had us at 1/4 to win this morning, now I see they have us at 1/2. Have our lads been shot full of tranquillizer?

St Ledger back in for McShane who has a stomach bug

McShane is out of the team with a stomach bug. St Ledger plays in his place.

TrapAPony was even quicker than me - I'm blaming the delay in my internet link from Setanta to New York :p

Trapattoni should have started Alex Pearce for McShane. What is he going to learn by watching St Ledger yet again...

Ah, Kick-Off. I dread to think how many hours I spent playing that game - and yet I don't regret a single one of them.

How on earth can this be viable financially? There can't be much more than a thousand people there. Playing in Oman would have been better than this

Chaotic defending there, cleary lacking the assurance of Paul McShane's calming presence.

My understanding is that Kentaro take the financial risk - the FAI and Oman get paid an appearance fee and the agent takes the risk on the crowd and how much they can make from TV rights.

Think we look very good on the attack. Shaky at the back though. I imagine this will be a classic good result in another ****ing friendly. 4-0 Denmark, 3-0 Sweden, 3-0 Algeria. We never turn it on in the big games.

The defenders are still hitting way too many long balls. Would love to see them just pass it to Meyler and McCarthy and try and build something from the middle.

LOL which ones?

Oman look about as confident on the ball as us.

I'd love to know this too - trying to watch the stream but it's near 3am + I've really got to hit the leaba :(

Oh and by the by, Kick-Off and Microprose Soccer were both mental from-above view games!

Trap looking rather disconcerted on the sidelines. Not happy with this tendency towards short passes and attacking play that's emerging no doubt.

Oman are terrible. We'd be better off playing a LOI team at Dalymount. What is the point of this match? Shane Long looks good so far.

Rep of Ireland v Ken Oman might have been more a contest.

Sorry if Ken's had a mention already. I couldn't bring myself to read page 1 to 4 of this thread.

Long and Doyle, both from freekicks

Both delivered by Brady. He could play himself into the team for Germany. Long has been excellant. Mcarthy and Meyler are trying to play it round but hasn't really been working out for them. Good to see them trying it hopefully they keep it up.

James McClean will be lucky to be in the squad after Brady's first half performance.

Brady free kick from right put deep and wide of the goal, head back across goal by Sledge, headed in by Long who beat the keeper to the balls.

Brady free kick from the left side (from about 35 yards out?) whipped in with huge curl in it such that it end up going away from the goal, head in by Doyle.

This match really makes you wonder about the FIFA rankings when Oman are somehow nearly 50 spots higher than Kazakhstan, who in fairness are quite decent and even today are putting up a fight away to Sweden.
