Reckon it'll be the usual suspects who will be fancied, till results and the draw puts the spanner in the works:

Sligo/Leitrim: City Utd, Boyle Celtic, possibly Aughanagh & St Johns
Roscommon: Can only see Ballinasloe, possibly Skyvalley
Mayo: Usual 3 or 4, Westport, Ballina, Erris, Castlebar
Galway: Athenry, Corrib rangers, Mervue

and of them Ballina v Mervue, Boyle v Skyvalley, Ballisodare v Castlebar this weekend are the stand out ties

That a good question longshanks i honestly dont no id say it between 3 teams. If ballina get past mervue they are in with a great chance seen them play two weeks ago against westport and they looked really strong .a bit weak at the back but very strong going forward.. Think westport will be hard stopped . Then may be athnery dont think they are as strong as other years but you can never write them off.. Think ballinasloe are past it .. What you think

its hard to say as most of it is guess work, looking at the league tables, etc. dont think many of us will have seen all the contenders playing this season.
I heard Ballina were unlucky against KUFC(last seasons runners-up) in the FAI so that bodes well for them, Westport won the Mayo league last year so are obvious contenders, Castlebar are still in the FAI, interesting tie away to Ballinasloe.
City Utd and Ballinasloe are still in the FAI, City are in the 6th round, only 2 teams got out of Sligo/Leitrim/Roscommon section, City beat Skyvalley and Boyle early on. Ballinasloe beat a good Ballisodare side in round 3....Ballisodare at home to Castlebar on Sunday
In Galway, Mervue and Corrib Rangers are going well in the league and Athenry have an exceptional record int the Connacht Cup...

as i said earlier the draw will have a lot to say about it.....Ballina v Mervue, Ballisodare v Castlebar, Boyle v Skyvalley in the 3rd round means 3 of the stronger teams will go at the first hurdle.....

Is the draw not usually made all to way to the final by now???

From what i know the draw is done but they are only going to release it round after round. So for round 4 we will know next week who got who... Thats what i have been told anyway...

Poor game from St John's perspective. Snugboro, had deserved call for a penalty and got a free on edge of box, along with a number of decent half-chances - Shane Stenson coolly finished from an acute angle in the second half for a win for the Sligo side.

Shiven 3 - 1 Ballygawley 1 aet 1-1 after normal time, ballygawley travelled with only 11 players, missing 8 starters.....good game and Shiven were deserving winners over the 110 mins, cant see them going much further, although they have a great set up and are a nice bunch of lads

Great hospitality, years ago we played then in Shiven, an underage team was traveking on to Athenry or Ballinasloe so we all traveled on the 1 bus, it was coming up an hour before kick off, said to the publican that we had told them we needed transoort, the publican too keys for 4 or 5 cars from brhind the counter and handed us keys for cars parked outside the door, after the match it turned out tgat the youths team had not got fed, thet fed them when they heard about them

A lot of great sides left. Not many easy games no matter what the draw brings. Great to see so many Mayo sides progressing despite a long winter lay off. Can't understand the whole secrecy about the next round. I thought these rounds were done up to the semi finals in the past.
