With the majority of the former star players the likes of dobbers Alan Lyons bussoli Brian Lyons have only ever played with the one club there whole life's and the rest of us have played with abbey before ... For more than a few seasons. We werent good enough for premier and star obviously taught so much of that team playing in 1A they pulled that team out. So when Abbeys manager (John Barry ) offered us a chance to play ball and train we all took it .. And to be honest he is turning into a very good clever manager with excellent training sessions.. Let's not forget he has also combined half of last years abbey team too into this current team.. Also note both clubs were relegated from there respective leagues last season .. were not here for money or for boots were playing cause we love the game the training and the crack with the team. And we know we won't get anything easy in this division we played one game and everything went right for us on the day. The likes of prospect and Shannon st pats have players that all played premier as well and caherconlish chalked up a big win over northvile too so let's not get carried away more than half the teams in this division capable of challenging for this league .. So best of luck to all teams

I think you will start to see a lot more of this over the next couple of years. Players returning to plpay for their "home" clubs. Since the top of the Premier has turned into fantasy football like squads, a lot of players would be playing Premier with any club will return to a club that means something to them.

Started a couple of years ago with Moyross who have gone from 3B to 1A in consecutive years. Now Abbey are doing it. Coonagh is in a similar situation with people from nearby and some of the old A team that broke up a couple of years ago.

Same with Wembley B a couple of seasons ago before they pulled out. A number of players who would consider themselves club men were going to go back playing with the B team.
To be honest, I think it is the best thing for the city. To have a couple of good teams in the lower league increases their appeal to other players and they grow from strength to strength.

Even look at 1A and 2B as examples this season. There are about 7-8 teams in each division with realistic chances of going up.

I wish Abbey all the best. For the next couple of seasons they should have a bit of fun moving up the divisions but hopefully they retain the sense of unity which will attract back other local players. The big thing for them is to stay away from how they went belly up last time around.

They were all only playing A team a year or 2 ago, anyone know why they are playing for the B's?? Chris Lake was a stand out player for the A team a year or so back, great player!

Chris lake was with the B team 2 years ago in 3b when Shannon A were in 1a. He went to the A team when they got promoted to the premier.

Agree with everything magicman has said too.

But weren't Shannon premier last year? Or was that the season before?

Season before...1A last year. Chris played one or two games in the Premier with us the year we were there but was mainly B team that year.

He didnt miss a training session with us, he can be a great player for the boro if he keeps his mouth shut.
