Cork Citys Unofficial site CityNet (http://eirways.com/citynet/) has been shut down today after seven years. It's a pity it was a class site. :( :(

It was a quality site.... I saw it coming though :(
a sad day indeed it was light years ahead of most other sites for years
a lot of competition now from other el sites

CityNet really camme into its own when it was able to references the older news items, i.e. previous match reports etc. ..... a quality site ..... a perfect example of what any eL site should be like.
CityNet R.I.P.
Fair play John, unbelieveable effort put into it over the years.

yeah excellant site. shame to see it happen. a victim perhaps of the success of other EL sites, 7 years ago it was the only source of internet reference for a lot of CCFc fans especially those stuck up in the Pale. sure peader spent hours on it when he should have testing for MS :p
then again so was I ;)
John deserves a lot of credit for all the work he put in over the years.
It's one of the reasons Cork City FC never had a proper offcial site... Citynet was doing the job for them.

very disappointed to hear that, ah well! Thanks John, if you're reading this, for all the enjoyment provided by Citynet over the last 7 years. I will miss it!

Don't worry about John, anyone so dedicated to a project and able to produce such quality will go a long way in life.
It's a shame to see it end but I'd never expect anyone to coninue forever making such an effort on a voluntary basis.
I hope he keeps the content stored somewhere so that he can dig it all out again when he's older and looking for a hobby.

Good idea, even though I'm still in mourning. It would be even better if other regulars could be encouraged to come on board as well...supersonic, pagan, anti-dub etc. Your mission GavinZac should you choose to accept.........
